The Magic and Wonder of the Holidays

Hello Stampin' Friends.  This is me, still trying to catch up my scrapbooks. I have been sitting on these photos for 3.5 years. I decided that it was truly time to get them booked.

I love these sweet photos of Jude's second Christmas (he was only an infant the year before) and his big sister showing him everything on Gramma and GranDoug's tree. I just happened to be in the right spot to capture the children early in the morning, still in their PJs, shortly after our tree when up.

For these two pages I used the Poinsettia Dies, the big scallop border die and the largest scallop edge rectangle die from the Color and Contour Bundle, and the Tailor Made Tag Dies - three of my favorite die sets on one double page layout! I used Real Red ink and cardstock along with Blushing Bride cardstock. And of course, white cardstock.

I used our Blending Brushes and the Real Read Ink and brushed some color onto the background (the 12 x 12 -inch white cardstock). I did this on both pages, aiming for opposite corners.

One of the tricks I utilized was shortening the length of a die. For the photo of Jude and Avaleigh playing (above), I used the fill side die cut and trimmed the photo to fit the die. For the bottom photo I trimmed the photo to the width of the die, but then I repositioned the die make the frame shorter to fit the photo. You can do this with almost any die.

I used double layered Tailor Made Tags in Real Red and White for my title and my journaling. The stamping on title tag looks a bit odd in the photo, but not so much in real life. For the journaling, I measured the die and using MS Word, I created a text box to match the tag measurements. I typed in my journaling and printed onto Vellum. I cut the vellum with the same tag die and layered the vellum over the white.

I finished this layout with White dot ribbon, 1/4-inch seam binding ribbon, and Genial Gems.

Thanks for stopping by today. I will be back soon with another project to share.

Quiet Meadow Floral Card

Hello Stampin' Friends. Sometimes we all need a Quite Meadow in our lives. A place to calm down, breathe deeply, find peace, and restore our energy. I often find that Quiet Meadow feeling in my craft room. Seriously! I can spend hours in there enjoying my favorite hobby, making cards and scrapbook pages, gifts and shareables. So how fitting that Stampin' Up! named this beautiful set Quiet Meadow?

I used only the Quiet Meadow dies and cardstock to create this card (the sentiment is from a different stamp set).  I went old school and ripped my paper (!), roughed the edges, and created layers. Somehow, I find this card peaceful - even with the Night of Navy color added.

Earlier this month (or was it late last month?) I used these same dies and created the card below. I used our new Linen Specialty DSP as a background. I gently added Pale Papaya ink to the background with a blending brush. As you can see, some of the cardstock I cut was water colored, and some was plain. I like subtle look of this card, too.

If you have not already done so, please consider following me on Instagram (spartansus). I try to post there daily!  Thank you for stopping by today.

Make N Take with Color & Contour Bundle

Hello Stampin' Friends. Earlier this month I attended my first Stampin' Up! Retreat since January 2020! I met with my SU upline and peers in Sumter, SC for a weekend of stampin', laughter, and much needed girlfriend time. Among the many things we did, our upline had a surprise pack of Make-n-Take cards for us to craft.  And this lovely card was the first.

The card base is Pale Papaya cardstock. To that we layered a rectangle of Pattern Party (Hostess) Designer Series Paper. Atop that is a strip of Night of Navy cardstock that was embossed to add texture. Next a strip of Pale Papaya woven ribbon, followed by the scallop edged stamped sentiment tag. We stamped and cut the floral stem from the Color & Contour bundle and finished the card with In-Color gems.

I love the cards my upline designs. We have very different stamping and designing styles, but her cards always appeal to me. I hope that you might like this card also.

Family Layout featuring Pretty Perennials Bundle

Hello Stampin' Friends. I am very far behind with my scrapbooking. My older two grandchildren, pictured in these photos, are now six and almost five years old. This grandmother needs to get busy and catch up the scrapbooks.

With that quest in mind, I started with these cute family photos of the grandchildren and their parents attending a summer family wedding in New England. I like how casual their little family looked in these photos, and how happy they look.

I began with two 12 x 12 - inch pieces of basic white cardstock as base pages. To them I added Bermuda Bay cardstock and two prints from the Pattern Party Hostess Rewards Designer Series Paper.

A quick word about the Pattern Party Hostess DSP: I love this paper. It has been my "go to" since I first released it. I want to encourage you to obtain this for yourself and your paper crafting needs. Place at least a $150 order and you will become the hostess. You can order for yourself or have a couple of friends order with you. Then you may select the Pattern Party Hostess DSP when you claim you hostess rewards. Contact me if you need more information on this.

Now back to the scrapbook pages - In addition to the solid cardstock and the printed DSP, used the Pretty Perennials stamp and die bundle. **This bundle is about to retire at the end of the month. Do not miss out on this gorgeous bundle.**

I stamped the large flowers in Pretty Poppy Ink. The middle size flowers (four petals) are stamped in Bermuda Bay Ink.  And the smallest flowers are stamped in Calypso Coral and Mango Melody. All of the colors are from Stampin' Up!'s "Brights" collection.

I stamped the leaves in Granny Apple Green and cut the larger leaves in Granny Apple Green cardstock. I cut the top layer of the flowers in basic white cardstock. I used the Elegant Facetted Gems as centers on my flowers. I finished the layout with Pool Party Sheer ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I will be back soon with another project to share.
