Hand-Penned Watercolor Card

Hello Stampin' Friends. We are coming off a long weekend here in the US, so I may seem a day late on this post. Today I am back with a "technique card." I wanted to show you a different way to use your Stampin' Up! ink pads.

For this card I stamped a floral image from the Hand-Penned stamp set onto white cardstock using StazOn Jet Black Ink. Quick lesson - When planning to use watercolor on am image, stamp with StazOn ink. When planning to use out Stampin' Blend Alcohol Markers, always use Memento Ink. Each ink has different properties that allow them to serve different functions.

Anyway, I stamped the image and then I took an empty stamp block and stamped it in the Polish Pink ink
(far left side of the image below) to use as a watercolor wash for the two larger flowers. I used our AquaPainter brushes and applied a bit of water to the ink, then brushed the ink on to the stamped image.

I continued this process with different colors, washing the brush tip in between until the image was all water colored. I then used the coordinating Hand-Penned die and cut out the bouquet.

I chose thick white cardstock as my base card and Hand Penned DSP for the background. I also wanted to use out Basic Border Dies, so I added a layer of vellum. I used one of the border dies to cut the print background and the vellum before affixing the layers to the card.

I cut the smallest tag from our Tailor Made Tags and stamped the Thanks sentiment. I finished the card with 1/4-inch white seam binding ribbon and opal round gems.

More Color & Contour Fun

Hello Stampin' Friends. Can you tell I am really enjoying the Stampin' Up! Color and Contour Bundle? I have had so much fun with this amazing stamp and die set, creating cards from elegant to whimsical. Today's card is all about whimsical!

I began with a quarter sheet of Stampin' Up! Vellum and I colored on it with Stampin' Blend Markers - four colors. I then added used a paint brush and added drops of alcohol to the ink colors. Since the Stampin' Blends are alcohol markers, the alcohol acted with the ink color and spread it and created fun patterns.

After the vellum dried, I trimmed the edges and cut the vellum down to three strips 1.5 x 3.6 - inches. I affixed the strips to a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock, then I cut a Pale Papaya frame. I matted the framed section onto a 5.25 x 4 - inch rectangle of Polished Pink Cardstock.

Before affixing the layers to the black card base, I wrapped Polish Pink ribbon around opposite corners, gift wrap style. I added a double bow, then glued the card front to the base.

I stamped three Color and Contour double stamp flowers onto white cardstock in black ink. I then used Polished Pink and Pale Papaya inks to complete the second step stamping. I used markers to color the flower center and stampin' dimensionals to affix the flower to the card.

I finished the card with the adorable sentiment from the same stamp set, stamping on white and matting on black.

I hope you enjoyed this fun card. I am adding a list of products used to make this card below.

Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop

Hello Stampin' Friends. Today I am participating in the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop. If you joined me through the hop, you are currently visiting Susan Edwards from South Caroline, USA. Welcome.

Today I am all about the Polished Pink! I am absolutely besotted with this color. Something about it makes me so happy. For my card I used Stampin' Up!'s Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set and die bundle, Polished Pink (Ink, cardstock, and ribbon), Expressions in Ink designer series paper, and Gilded Leafing flakes. I know that one does not naturally think of Polished Pink seashells, but in an ideal world all seashells would be this lovely - and ebellished with gold!!

I began by stamping the large seashell onto white cardstock in Polished Pink Ink. Using embossing ink, Stampin' Up!'s Heat and Stick Powder, and the Gilded Leafing, I added the the gold elements to the shell, like barnicles, only gold! I selected the Polished Pink and Gold paper from the Expressions in Ink DSP, perfect for my pink and gold pallet. I added a gold and white stripe edging.

Another favorite new product is out Tailor Made Tags dies. They feature two styles of tags in four sizes each. I cut the die in Polished Pink Cardstock and heat embossed my birthday sentiment in gold embossing powder.

I completed the card by adding a gorgeous Polished Pink ribbon bow and gilded gems. Such a perfect girly-girl birthday card!

Thanks for joining me today. I will be back with more Stampin' Up! projects soon. In the meantime, enjoy the blog hop!!

Hello Stampin' Friends. Have you seen Stampin' Up's new Beauty of Friendship suite yet? The designer series paper alone was enough to get me very excited. But then I begin using the stamps and dies, and I had an "OOOH" experience! I just the abstract look of the trees with splotches of color, and dimension, and depth.

The Beauty of Friendship bundle contains thirteen stamps and nine coordinating dies. This includes six sentiment stamps! I created this easel card to showcase the bundle, the designer series paper, the potential for use of color, and one of the sentiments.
