Wild About You Valentines

Hello friends! Welcome to my project for this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge. My very talented design team sister, Caroline, has challenged us to create Valentine's for children this week. Her timing is perfect as this challenge got me moving on Valentine gifts for my daughter's second grade students.

These cute Valentine sucker covers are a "make it now" project in Design Space.  It utilizes two Cricut cartridges and one Cricut font:  Create A Critter 2, Ribbons and Rosettes, and Simple Celebrations font.

The lion face if from Create A Critter 2.  It is cut in three layers.
The lion mane is a rosette from Ribbons and Rosettes.  I used a striped Valentine paper for the mane. The make it now project included the "Wild about you" phrase.  I added "Love, Mrs. Ross" to the opposite end of the tag so when it is folded the from line is on the back.

Doug went Target to look for heart shaped suckers for me.  I failed to mention that I need regular size suckers so imagine my surprise when he came home with large Sweetart suckers!  They are much larger than I planned, but they are QUITE yummy.  Doug did good!!

Have you been by the Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut blog this week? The design team created a variety of cute Valentine's for children. I hope that you go by and check out the post, then join us in this week's challenge!

Snowy Ornaments

Hello friends! Welcome to my Christmas card project for The Merry Christmas Challenge Blog, where every challenge, every week, is an Anything Goes Christmas challenge.

Last year I used vintage images on most of my Christmas cards. This year I have a new plan; I plan to use die cuts on my Christmas cards. I shopped several after Christmas sales and have purchased over 20 new Christmas/Winter dies.  I am excited to learn to better use my dies and create the new cards.

Today's card was created using three dies: Memory Box 98211 Classic Ornament Die and 98146 Frostyville Border, and Impression Obsession (IO) DIE226-A Peace.

After cutting the ornament dies in smooth white cardstock, I traced the negative cutout onto red and white cardstock.  I heat embossed the two white ornament cutouts, one in gold and one in silver (though the silver looks light green in my photos as it is picking up color from the light green sequins). I layered the die cut ornaments with the solid backgrounds, and embellished them with sequins and gold bows.

I cut the word Peace in white cardstock and heat embossed the word with silver embossing powder.

I cut the Frostyville Border piece in smooth white cardstock cut the same size as the front of the card.  The card was created from a slightly different white cardstock, hoping to show the border cut more clearly.

After assembling the card, I added gold ornament sting and sequin star highlights.

Have you been by The Merry Christmas Challenge Blog yet today?  The design team has created a variety of Christmas cards to inspire your Christmas card crafting.  I hope you will join us and create a Christmas card to share in the challenge.

Felt Penguin Ornament

Hello friends! Welcome to my project for this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge. My very talented design team sister, Amy, is hosting this challenge - March of the Penguins. Amy asked us to use a Cricut cut penguin on our project.  Or in my case, the Cricut cut penguin IS my project.

During Christmas 2016 I used dies and made several cute felt ornaments for my grandchildren. I made cute frosting covered stars and male and female hedgehogs. My daughter likes the felt ornaments because they can go on the bottom of the tree and the kids can touch them, leaving the upper branches free to hold breakable and heirloom ornaments.

I had never cut fabric with my Explore 2 Cricut before.  I thought I would give it a try when I saw this Make it Now Penguin Ornament project.  I confess that my stitching is not even and there are many, many imperfections on my little girl penguin, but I think Avaleigh will like her.  The die cuts were easier to sew evenly as the needle holes cut out with the die shape. But overall I think my Explore 2 cut Penguin ornament came out cute.

Have you been by the blog and checked out this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge?  My very talented design team sisters have created the cutest cards and layouts feature different Cricut cut Penguins.  I suspect their projects just might inspire you to create your own Penguin project and join us in this challenge. Blow Out Your Candles

Hello friends! Welcome to my project for this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge.  I am hosting the challenge this week and I have asked the design team to create birthday cards.

While most of the birthdays in our family are in the fall, we have four birthdays between January 6 and February 3.  After the many fall birthdays I find I start each year in need of new birthday cards.  I decided that this challenge could get me started replenishing my birthday card stash, and maybe help out other crafters too.

I used four cartridges to create this card:

Pretty Pennants for the bottom scalloped background pieces,
Artbooking for the Happy Birthday phrase,
Something to Celebrate for the candle flames,
And Basic Shapes for all of the other card elements, layers, etc.

I would like to invite you to join us in this week's challenge.  Go by the Bitten By The Bug 2 blog and check out the festive cards the design team created to inspire you, then craft a birthday card or two and share them with us under this week's post at Bitten By the Bug 2!

Happy crafting!

Epiphany With The Magi

Hello friends! Welcome to my Christmas project for The Merry Christmas Challenge Blog, where every challenge, every week, is an Anything Goes Christmas challenge.

My post this week is a few days late for Epiphany and the coming of The Magi, but I feel like since it is the same week, I can slide in one last Nativity/Three Kings card.  In some Christian denominations the baptism of Jesus is celebrated on January 6th and in others the coming of three wise men is celebrated.  I think of Epiphany as a season of light, and the coming of the wise men.

My card this week uses another nativity image I found on Pinterest as well as a mix of Cricut cuts and ink highlights.  I used the geometric background from Edge to Edge 2, adding interest in texture without overtaking the main image.  I also used the winter wreath and banner from Flower Market.   I stamped the banner with a Merry Christmas stamp from my stash and I finished the card by brushing on white ink "snow."

Have you been by The Merry Christmas Blog yet this week?  You should go check out the projects the design team has posted.  Then share your won Christmas card with us.

Sledding Party

Hello friends! Welcome to my project for this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge.  My Design Team sister Michelle selected our challenge this week, SNOW AND COLD.  For this challenge I have decided to share one final Christmas card from my 2017 collection, Sledding Party.

In addition to the vintage image and die cut frames, I used four Cricut cartridges to create this card:  Anna's Christmas Cards and Embellishments 2, Anna's Holiday Home Decor, You Are Here, and Basic Shapes.

If you have not already done so, please go by the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog and check out the fabulous snowy and cold projects the design team shared this week.  And as always, I would like to invite you to join our weekly challenge.  Craft a new snowy or cold weather project and share with us under this week's blog post at BBtB2.
