Joyful Wreath Christmas Card

Hello friends! Welcome to my Bitten By the Bug 2 post of the week.  My amazing design team sister, Valentyna, selected this week's challenge cut - a Cricut cut wreath.  Well you all know that I completely addicted to Flower Market (see the post below this one!!), right?  So creating a Christmas wreath was no problem!!

I wanted to create a wreath hanging on a door so I turned to the Christmas (formerly Christmas Noel) cartridge.  I used the front door cut on Christmas Noel, and with a bit of editing, the door became my card.  I welded two of the base layers of the door together to create the door shaped card.

The wreath was built using a variety of cuts, all from the Flower Market cartridge.  I assembled the layers and finished the wreath with small gems.

I used the font element in Design Space and cut the letters J-O-Y for the front windows of the door.  Inside I added a nice Christmas stamped sentiment with plenty of room for a personalized note.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Please take a look at my Cyber-Monday Close To My Heart sale in the post below.  If you have not already done so, please do go by the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog and check out the great wreath projects the design team created.  They are amazing!  I hope their work will inspire you to join our challenge this week and link up your own wreath project at BBTB2!

A Wreath Full of Thanks

Hello friends! Happy Thanksgiving week!  This week I am hosting the Cricut challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2 and I have challenged the Design Team to use the word THANKS or THANKFUL,  cut with the Cricut, on a project. Because I have become boringly predictable (!), I have used Close To My Heart's Flower Market cartridge to create my card.

I started with the basic, single color fall wreath cut.  I then gathered individual fall cuts from the Flower Market cartridge that together made up the wreath.  I cut the various elements in different colors of cardstock, then layered the additional cuts over their corresponding shapes on the wreath.

I added to the design by incorporating pine cones, acorns and berries, shapes that were not on the original fall wreath.  I finished the wreath with the pumpkin cut at the bottom - again not on the original wreath.

The phrase Full of Thanks is also found on the Flower Market cartridge.  I really like the colors and the design of the phrase.

Because my wreath was so full of color, I matted the wreath and phrase on a white mat.  I did add color with the second mat, but nothing to pull the eye from the actual wreath.

If you have not already been by the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog, I hope that you head right over now.  The Design Team has created some wonderfully Thankful projects to inspire your Thanksgiving week.  We hope that you can find time to join this week's challenge!!

Thank you for stopping by today!  I will be back later in the week to tell you about the Close To My Heart Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals!!

Quick and Easy Joyous Noel Card

Hello friends! Do you need a quick and easy Christmas Card?  How about this poinsettia adorned Joyous Noel card made with the Flower Market cartridge?

This card is comprised of three Flower Market cuts and a font cut.  I cut the pine and holly wreath in medium green cardstock.  Two poinsettias and two berry cuts were added to adorn the wreath.  I used a touch of clear shimmer brush to the poinsettia petals and berries.  But otherwise I left the card clean.

This card would be simple to mass produce for holiday giving - and - with a rectangle of cardstock placed over the front of the card in the envelop, it would ship at regular rate (love those square cards, but they cost extra $$ to mail).

So, now it is time to talk about Close To My Heart. Have you purchased the Flower Market Cricut cartridge yet?  It is the perfect cartridge for card making and beautiful scrapbooking.  And I am truly enjoying using FM to create my Christmas cards!

The other tool used on the card is Shimmer Brush - Clear.  It is also available in my Close To My Heart online store for $4.95.

Thanks for stopping by for today's simple card.

Give Thanks Sunflower Card

Hello friends! Welcome to this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Challenge post.  This week's challenge was selected by our very talented and very sweet Michelle.  Michelle selected an open theme Thanksgiving project. Use your Cricut to create any type of Thanksgiving project you would like to make.

I had fun with this challenge!  I chose to use a center step card, which I created using basic shapes, cut lines, and score lines in Design Space.  I also had a very specific color palette in mind before starting the project: yellow, aqua, teal and cream, with a touch of brown.  I know these are not traditional Thanksgiving colors, but they do seem to reflect fall.

Unlike a lot of my projects, this card was created using only the Close To My Heart Flower Market Cricut cartridge and Cricut basic shapes.  I have a tendency to mix a lot of cuts from different cartridges to make my projects. The Flower Market cartridge is helping me over come that habit.

I love the sunflowers on the Flower Market cartridge and I love mixing the different types of foliage cuts together with the flowers.  I also like cutting some of my foliage in non-traditional colors, like the teal leaves.

After adding the Give Thanks sentiment to the card, I added a sparse scattering of teal gems to the foliage.  I did not feel a need to use pen doodles or more gems.  With the busy background paper and the colorful flowers and "greenery", I felt that no further embellishment was necessary.

I have to tell you that our Bitten By the Bug 2 ladies created some fabulous Thanksgiving projects this week.  I may have to scraplift one or two of their ideas!  I hope you find some time this week to join our Thanksgiving challenge.  I would love to see projects.

So, not it is time to talk about Close To My Heart. Have you purchased the Flower Market Cricut cartridge yet?  It is the perfect cartridge for card making and beautiful scrapbooking.  And I am truly enjoying using FM to create my Christmas cards!

Floral Wreath Christmas Card

Hello friends! I am back today with another new Christmas card for this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 Circut cut challenge.  My amazing design team sister, Maureen, selected the challenge for this week: "Nature Calls", use a Cricut cut item found in nature on a Thanksgiving or Christmas project.  You could use a pumpkin, snow, pine cone, twigs, birds, or, as in my project, flowers.  There are lots and lots of options for this week's challenge.

I am still enjoying the Flower Market cartridge so much that, of course, it provided the main elements for this poinsettia and white flower wreath.  I used three Cricut cartridges - the above mentioned Flower Market, Pretty Pennants, and Ribbons and Rosettes.

I used a number of cuts from Flower Market:  the Cherry Blossom Twig Wreath (with the buds cut in white), Trillium Clusters, Baby's Breath, Poinsettia, and the Buttercup Branches.  Beginning with the wreath, I layered the cuts to create the wreath.  I finished the wreath by adding yellow gems to the flower centers. The Merry Christmas sentiment is also from Flower Market.

The red and green pennants were cut from the Pretty Pennants cartridge.  I thought simpler would be better, so I only cut two pennants in solid colors.

The scalloped layers below the wreath were cut from the Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge.  I wanted to add a bit of design to the lower portion of the card.

I used tw
o layers of matting on a top-fold white card.  I added the pennants, the scalloped layers, and the wreath in that order.

The Bitten By The Bug 2 created some amazing projects to inspire you this week.  There are both Thanksgiving and Christmas projects.  Please do go by the blog and check out their terrific projects.

Joy Filled Christmas Card

Hello friends!  I thought it might be fun to share a random Thursday Joy Filled Christmas card!  This is one of the many Christmas cards I have created using the Close To My Heart Flower Market Cartridge.  Honestly, if you use the Cricut, you NEED this cartridge.  I am enjoying it so very much.

I used Oh Deer! paper with basic cardstock and a stamped word - Joy from the Very Merry stamp set #D1694.

The card was created using only three images from the cartridge:  The square pine frame, the berry twig, and the poinsettia flower (cut twice).  The poinsettias were stamped with stamp #B1540 - Pretty Poinsettia.  The most difficult part of the card was lining up the background papers with the opening in the frame.
