I Want To Ride My Bicycle....

Hello friends.  Are you ready for this week's Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge?  This week I am hosting the challenge which means that I picked the Cricut cut we are using for this week.  I selected a Cricut Cut Bicycle for this week's challenge.

I love to ride my bicycle, but I confess that it is not something I have been doing lately (lately=my bike currently has flat tires so clearly it has been quite a while).  Biking is so good for me and fun that I am hoping to reintroduce myself to my bicycle and enjoy this beautiful spring weather.

I am going to confess that I saw a bicycle box card on facebook and thought it was adorable.  The card had a window in the back with an empty bike on the front layer.  I think there were flowers in between, maybe?? I honestly do not remember.  I like the card a lot, but I wanted to create something that was more original.  However, viewing that card was a starting point - a Box Card with this week's bicycle cut.

I decided to use my favorite box - from, their Thanksgiving box set.  The box cut wonderfully with my Cricut Explore (LOVE that machine), and only required hand trimming to remove the Thanksgiving elements from the box inserts.

I used FIVE Cricut Cartridges to create my card.  I know that may seem excessive, but with my subscription in Design Space, I can search from thousands of images to use the cut that most appeals to me at the time.

The bicycle was cut using Just Because Cards.  I cut the rider from Rock Princess, where she is riding a motorcycle and facing the other way.  I turned her to the right and hand trimmed the motor cycle and kept just the girl.  I hand cut her helmet from scraps.

The palm trees on the second insert are from the Summer Love cartridge.

The flower trimmed beach scene is from Something To Remember, with a bit of hand trimming to remove a beach umbrella.  In the interest of full disclosure, the back originally looked different.  I decided it needed a bit "something more" and went back and added the back scene.

The clouds in the sky are from Disney's Pooh and Friends cartridge.

I finished the card with Stickles on the pink flowers in front and the bike's silver elements.  I added aqua beads to the flowers on the background to help them POP a little better.  Finally, I added the word PRINCESS to the bottom front of the card.

I hope that you are able to join us in this week's Cricut Bicycle Challenge.  If you have not already been by the BBTB2 blog, you are going to LOVE the design team's inspiring projects!

You Chase the Clouds Away

Hello friends.  I am back with another Bitten By the Bug 2 challenge post.  This week's Cricut Challenge Cut was selected by my sweet Design Team sister, Sharon.  Sharon asked us to use a Cricut Cut Cloud (and/or Sun) on this week's project.  I decided to use both!

I started with a pre-designed, very feminine layout from the Design Space projects library made using Anna Griffin's Card and Embellishments cartridge.  I love the Anna Griffin cuts!  They are so girly and so elegant.

If you have not used the any of the pre-designed projects available in Cricut Design Space, I suggest you give them a look, especially if you have a subscription to the cartridge library.  I personally own about 150 Cricut cartridges, but with my subscription I have access to many, many, many cartridges that I had not previous purchased.

I had this wonderful 8 x 10 inch photo of Avaleigh communing with the ceiling fan and I thought it would be sweet on this layout - even if the colors are off a bit.  Because let's face it, Avaleigh looks wonderful on ANY layout!!

I used the Creative Memories Traveler cartridge to cut the swirly sun, which I embellished with CTMH sequins.  The cute cloud was cut from the When I was a kid cartridge.

I used a Cricut pen in my Cricut Explore to write the page title.  I used one of the Close To My Heart fonts with the "add text" feature in Design Space.  The pen outlined the letters and I used the same pen to color in the letter middles.  It was VERY easy and I just might never cut a title again!!!  (Okay, that was an exaggeration!)

Please do take a few minutes and go by the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog and check out the wonderful cloudy projects created by our talented Design Team.  We would love to have you join us in this week's challenge.  Just check the rules at the BBTB2 blog and link you new project under this week's post.

You Are Sunshine on a Rainy Day

Hello everyone!  After a two week blogger vacation I am FINALLY back!  Not only am I back, I am here with a new Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge.  My amazing Design Team Sister, Pam, selected this week's Cricut Cut challenge theme.  Pam asked the Design Team to use anything related to rain - clouds, rain boots, umbrellas, puddles, etc.  I created a card - You are sunshine on a rainy day!

I used several Cricut cartridge cuts on my card as well as an SVG step card cut.  The adorable girl is from Teen Scene Paper Dolls - a totally under utilized member of my cartridge library.  The trees are from Disney's Tinker Bell and Friends - also under used.  The flowers are from the Bloom cartridge. The fence is from Ribbons and Rosettes, and the umbrella is from Disney Classics.  And honestly, I forgot where I picked up the puddles, but I am pretty sure that they were originally clouds!

I hope that you find some time this week to join us in this week's Cricut cut challenge.  Go by the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog and check out the challenge rules on the side bar.  Enjoy the fabulously inspiring projects the design team made.  Then create your own new rainy project and link up with us at BBTB2.  We do so enjoy it when you join us in the weekly challenges!!
