Yes, Even More Vegas Layouts

I am still scrapping away on the Vegas/Grand Canyon trip.  I am not sure if I am even halfway finished yet.  I did order close to 300 photos for the digital photos.  What was I thinking????  Oh yes, that my memory is failing and my scrapbooks will capture my memories for me.

I only had enough photos of the New York, New York casino to justify a single page layout.  Fortunately MFK reminded me that I had this map and I WOULD want to scrap the map.  Great idea Kathy!  Plus it gave me a matching page.

I used Destinations cartridge for the Statue of Liberty cut on the NY, NY page.  I am soooo please that I purchased that cartridge. It has a lot of useful cuts.

The Welcome to Las Vegas cut is from SCRAP YOUR TRIP, one of my favorite online scrap stores.  Julie always has the best custom made die cuts and the best papers for any travel of special interest.

Don't forget to leave a comment under the previous post if you are interested in being in the drawing for a $25 Custom Crops Gift Voucher!  The drawing will be held on Thursday!

Tea & Sweet Shoppe Card AND BBTB2 Blog Hop

Hello and happy Monday.  Welcome to my Tea and Sweet Shoppe!  This week's challenge cut at BBTB2 is the Genie Lamp from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.  I ALMOST went with a cute oasis scene on my card but then I decided to take the road less traveled and add my lamp to a line of assorted teapots.

I have to tell you that I do not think I have ever used this many cartridges on a single card.  I used Paper Doll Dress Up, Just Because Cards, Sweet Treats, Tie the Knot, George, A Child's Year, Dreams Come True, Once Upon A Princess, and Cindy Loo.  Each of the teapots is from a different cartridge, as are the cakes.

I like the store window effect I created by welding two shapes from George in Design Studio and then adding layers.  And of course I had to add pearls and gems to my sweets and shelving.  I used copic markers and my Ranger white gel pen to embellish the teapots, cups, and sweets.

I kept trying to find a way to add large flowers and ribbon, but the additions distracted from my main store window effect so I did not use them.    Instead, I finished the card by adding a swiss dot cardstock mat inside the card and cutting a "sweet" phrase with the Cindy Loo font.

I believe I mentioned a BBTB2 BLOG HOP!!  Yes it is our blog hop week.  I have some sweet blog candy up for grabs - just leave a message below and you will be in the drawing for a CUSTOM CROPS GIFT VOUCHER!!!  That's right!  Free shopping!!

After you leave your comment below and become a follower if you'd like, you should hope on over to the blog of the VERY TALENTED THERESA!  I cannot wait to see what Theresa made this week; she is such an amazing artist- quickly - go!!

Happy hopping!

"Swarming" at Ms. Suzanne's House & Her Super Scraproom

I had a wonderful day yesterday.  I spent most of the day with six of my favorite people at our friend Suzanne's house.  Suzanne hosted a "swarm" for our cricutting friends.  It is really easy for this group - we have gotten together so frequently that we have the "bring a dish" food down to a easy pattern, we know who brings the cricuts, laptops, etc.  We had two expressions going yesterday along with computers loaded with Cricut Design Studio.

MFK (my friend Kathy) and I managed to miss the photos... Not sure what happened there... But I did manage to get everyone else in a photo.  Maybe Kathy and I were too busy scrapping more of the Vegas trip??  Okay that's our story.

I really need to share Suzanne's scraproom with you.  She has a space that we all covet; so organized and well stocked!

Also in the closet, both sides have built-in shelves:

We had a lot of chatting and scrapping happening.   Pictured here is Toby getting some much needed R&R:

And here is Beth:

And finally (since Kathy & I avoided being photographed) are Pat and Suzanne:

I am sooooo lucky to have these wonderful friends.  And I soooo enjoy my time with them.  Suzanne, thank you for hosting!!!

Have you seen the fabulous product for sale at ScrappinCricut?  Kendra is selling six foot long extension cable that will work with your Gypsy, Design Studio and Cricut machine.  I love this idea because the cable that connects my Gypsy to my Cricut is so darned short - I have to rearrange my desk to cut with my G.  But with the this, those days are GONE!!!  I had to laugh when I read one of her visitor comments.  It said thanks for improving on the shortest cord ever!  So true!!

Princess PJ Party with Once Upon a Princess & BBTB2

Happy BBTB2 Monday!  This week at BBTB2 we were challenged to use the rainbow cut from the Once Upon A Princess Cricut cartridge.  I am going to tell the truth and say that I was not thrilled with this cut.... UNTIL I designed my layout.  Then I decided this cut is adorable and has sooo many great uses.

I used Design Studio and designed a layout using several cuts from Once Upon a Princess.  I had never actually cut the cute castle on OUAP (GASP!) so I had a lot of fun with the layout.  I was especially excited to find the PJ cut, which includes adorable bunny slippers.  What a fun find.

I used the challenge cut to make a journaling card and attached the card to the upper left corner of the layout.  That way I still include journaling on a very full page, but also I get to include a cute decorative cut.  Sometimes all it takes is a little creativity to include the elements that we need.

In addition to my usual doodles and dots, I added a lot of gems to this layout.  I blinged the crowns at the bottom of the Pricess matting, as well as to the Princess PJ sets.

I also added a bit of bling to the top of the castle.  The final touch was to add tiny ribbon bows to the corners of the photos, to the Pricess's hair, and to the top tower of the castle.

I tried to video myself assembing this project. This video has a new camera position, which may or may not be an improvement.  I have found I quite like doing the videos and I will keep working on my skills.

My Saturday At Everyday Cricut - Lazy Summer Days

Happy Saturday everyone.  It is the third Saturday of the month and that means it is my day to share a project at Everyday Cricut.  I have a summertime project that is colorful and fun, made from the Cindy Loo cartridge.

I also have a cut file to share, Lazy Summer Days, located in the list of downloadable cut file in the left column of of this blog. The layout requires only two cartridges, Plantin Schoolbook and as stated above, Cindy Loo.

If you have not already been by Everday Cricut today you may want to do so now.  There are more photos of the layout and the chance to win some great products if you leave a comment.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great Saturday!!

Twin Graduation Cards Using Cindy Loo and Hello Kitty

I had to make graduation cards for a set of twins this week.  That was a challenge.  I used Cindy Loo, Hello Kitty (though the cards are Kittyless - GASP!), Hello Kitty Font, and Just Because Cards.  Have you seen the frame feature on Cindy Loo.  Oh my goodness, they are adorable.  I went with a simple flower trimmed frame as I need to pop the cards into the mail.  But WOW - such choices.

I really like that the cartridge has the layer cuts for the frames.  That made me very happy because normally I have to use Design Studio and McGyver the extra pieces.

I used the diploma cut from Hello Kitty Greetings to fill the frame on the front of the card.  After I photographed the cards I added each of the girls' first initials to the teal seal on her card.  I thought that might personalize the cards a bit.

Inside the cards I added a yellow matting and the word Congrats, cut from the Hello Kitty Font cartridge.  I also added a little flower to the lower right corner of each card.

I am a few days late making the cards so I had to rush them into the mail.  The twins are fabulous girls and both are so excited to be off to college this fall.  And yes, they are going to the same college!!

Hello Kitty Travel Mug with Video

I found this travel mug at my local Hobby Lobby and just knew that I had to have it.  Wanting to use it for work TOMORROW, I decided to use my Cricut and Hello Kitty cartridge and create an insert.  I made a video of the process - and that was the good news.  The bad news was the video was twice as long as it was allowed to be. So yes, I did A LOT of cutting. I hope it still makes sense.

One other note before you view the video, please forgive Duncan the Wonder Dog... He is barking in the first minute of the video because he can see the children across the street and he LOVES to play with them.

Cindy Loo Circle Card - with Video & Cut File

Happy Monday everyone!  I did not have the correct cartridge for the weekly BBTB2 challenge so I am going to share a project I created for Custom Crops.  I used the new CINDY LOO cartridge and made cute circle card.

Cindy Loo has loads of adorable doily cuts, florals, flourishes, trees and wildlife.  This one card covers several fo those areas listed:  doilly, wildlife, & trees.

Go to my page at Custom Crops - just click the blinkie in the upper left column of this blog - and you can view the video as well as read the article and see photographs.  And did I mention that the cut file is at Custom Crops for free download?  Oh yes - Custom Crops has it all today!!!

Back To Vegas - More Scrapbook Pages

My trip to Las Vegas continues to be relived in my scraproom.  Sadly I do not think I am even halfway though the photos. Did I mention that I printed 300 photos???  I am going to be reliving Vegas and the Grand Canyon all summer long!

On the last day of our trip we went back to the Hard Rock Casino (dh and I had gone there the day before by ourselves) with MFK and her dh.  We at lunch ate Mr. Lucky's 24/7, and for those of you who know of the steak and shrimp (not on the menu) special.... YES WE DID!!!  It is not on the menu but you can order Mr. Lucky's special which is steak, large grilled shrimp, potato, & salad all for $7.77!

There is a bit of a back story (don't I usually have a back story?) that goes with this layout.  The one show my dh wanted to see that we did not have prepurchased ticket for was Carlos Santana, who was performing while we were there.  The only night we had open (due to prior planning while at home) was Thursday. Thursday was Santana's off night.  We were sad but we went to the House of Blues and viewed a nice acoustic show over dinner.  And who walked in during our dinner?  Carlos Santana!  Seriously.

At lunch the next day at Mr. Lucky's dh and I were telling MFK and her dh about seeing Santana.  They were surprised and a bit green.  Until... WHO should walk by the table because he too was enjoying lunch at Mr. Lucky's??? Carlos!  (I figure after two near meetings we are on first name basis now).  We were all too stunned to grab the cameras.  We did, however, get his little post card sized show poster (thanks to Kathy).

For the right page, I enlarged the Beethoven guitar to an 8 x 10 inch photo and used it as a background image. I cut out a 4 x 6 inch photo of the "God gave rock & roll to us" guitar and used it between the photos on the left page.  I used a lot of gold metallic cardstock as background elements and as matting (forgive the glare).  I used Plantin Schoolbook and tried to create the Hard Rock Cafe title for my left page.

Between the metallic paper and the glossy photos these two pages had serious glare-factors while photographing.  The pages look really nice in real life.

Sweet n Sassy Sunshine Card & Video

Hi there! Happy BBTB2 Monday!  Today I have a card to share with you, Sunshine Reader.  The challenge cut of the week at BBTB2 is the SUN cut from Cricut's DOODLECHARMS cartridge.  In addition to using the sun cut, we also have a sponsor for this week's project, Sweet n Sassy Stamps.

We recieve several digital stamp images from which to choose to make our projects.  I liked this cute little scholarly mouse.  For details on how I made my card, please see the video below.  You will notice that thanks to MFK's (My friend Kathy's) great shopping abilities I am now the owner of a PINK tripod.  The camera angle is MUCH better this week.  Less arm; more project!!

Be sure to go by BBTB2 and check out everyone's fabulous projects.   I went with sweet and simple for my project but not everyone took my simplistic approach to this challenge.  I was wow'ed when I uploaded my card and got a sneak peek of the design team projects.

While I was not paying attention ProvoCraft released a new series of cartridges - Lite Cartridges!  Like the mini's, the Lite cartridges have 50 key strokes.

I discovered that there are 24 Lite carts and titles include: B is For Boy, Baby, Billionaire, Block Party, Bloom, Botanicals, Carousel, Celebrate With Flourish, Cherry Limeade, Chore Chart, Cupcake Wrappers, Dude!, Feeling Groovy, Handy Man, Hoot ‘n’ Holler, Lacy Labels, Live Simply, Meow, Savory, Slumber Party, Splish Splash, Sugar & Spice, Varsity Letters, and Wildlife.

Did you notice what I noticed?  Amidst those titles I say boy/man/guy related titles.  I also noticed MEOW for you cat lovers!  ProvoCraft WAS paying attention when you asked for those cartridges!!!

The most complete photo series of the new Lite Cartidges that I have run across is at Samantha's blog (sweet Samantha from the Cricut MB): Scrapmaster's Paradise

Sorry that my photos have HUGE white borders - I found them on the Internet and they refuse to cooperate.  But I did want to share because I was so excited about 24 new cartridges!!
