Happy Christmas Train and Tree Layout

Have you been by Custom Crops this week? Several of the designer have new files posted. All of the new files now post on Monday mornings so I will admit that CC is one of my Monday stops. I love to see what everyone has created.

One of my latest CC designs is a double page layout using Christmas Noel and Plantin Schoolbook and features this amazing tree and train. I am very pleased with how this layout came out.

In addition to the train, which is just stinkin' cute, I am really impressed with the tree ornaments on Christmas Noel. I especially like the long ornament which is detailed. I was afraid that my cricut would not do well with the small details but I put in a new blade and it went smoothly. There is a lot to be said for a shape blade and a new mat in the world of cricutting!

Click on the Custom Crops blinkie to the left and you will find the article which includes directions and the cut file for this project listed under my name. Enjoy!!

Priceless - Knowing Your True Worth

Happy Bitten by the Bug Monday! While I am not participating in the blog hop, I am happy that you hopped by. And speaking of hopping... Do you like my little frog Prince?

This week's BBTB challenge cut is to use the priceless cut from Graphically Speaking. I decided to use the tag with only a minor alteration; I added the word "is". Otherwise I used this adorable frog from the Sweethearts cartridge. And once again, I thought deeper than was necessary for the cut, but truly how many of us know our true worth. How wonderful if we could all appreciate ourselves!

Now on to why I did not participate in the blog hop... Because I am a horrid person and still have not gone to the post office and mailed my blog candy from the last blog hop... nor have I mailed the blog candy from the download guess. I have this big flaw in life.... I HATE going to the Post Office. But I DO PROMISE to get to the Post Office this week!!!!

So with the confessions being finished, I will get back to life... I have a busy week coming up. I will be finishing up the details for my husband's b-day party this Saturday. It is a casual event, but still requires a degree of planning and coordinating. And guess what? I have already designed the scrapbook pages in Design Studio!!!

A Gypsy-Fun Evening and Day

I am going to confess right up front that I set the cable box to record the HSN Gypsy debut as well as set a reminder so that I would be parked in front of the TV at the appointed hour. I am also going to confess to being up FAR too late last night/this morning.

Provo Craft was celebrating their tenth birthday with the debut sales of the Gyspy handheld design device. They put together a special bundle of products for the release and, not surprising, sold out shortly after noon today. But they had a fabulous twelve hours! And yes, I made my purchase early, early this morning!!!

I am so excited to receive my gypsy... I said that I would set up an outpost in the front yard to stalk the UPS truck, but I fear the neighbors would talk.... and worry!!! And too, I have far too much to do with planning dh's birthday party (10 days away) .

I suspect that dh's party will not be as festive as Provo Craft's party. PC gave away a Gypsy, an Expression, and cartridges on Twitter last night. Yes, I signed up for Twitter to be part of the party!!! Dh's party will be more like SC BBQ, friends, gifts..... Poor dh!

Have you looked at the Gypsy Wandering & Gypsy Font cartridges? I opened Design Studio and previewed the cartridges... that got me even more excited. I like so many of the images on the cartridges...
You do know that there will be more in the gypsy in the future.... much more.... but for now I will close with an explanation of the project photos in this post. This is a card idea I am working on for the Grandmothers. Each family member will have a panel in this accordion card. Each family member will have to write a note on the pull out tag.

I think the Grandmoms will like this a lot as it will be personalized for each of them.

Happy Cricutting....

Stamping With My Cricut

After yesterday's wonderful package from Provo Craft for my guest designer spot at Christmas With The Cricut, I just had to play with my new toys. I Love, love, LOVE the Cricut embossing folders; I should have been using these for sometime. I also tried out the Cricut stamp set.

Everything I have read indicated that simple, less detailed cuts should be selected. I decided to try something very simple for my first try. I just adore the boxers and baby-doll pj set on the new Sweethearts cartridge.

Take seriously the advise to use a new cutting mat. After trial and error I switched to a new mat and it worked like a charm.

It took a bit of practice to get the stamped image to come out as nicely as I desired. Then suddenly I realized that I liked the uneven effect. :-) I cut out the stamped images and using pop dots, attached them to the clothesline on my card.

I finished off my card with a phase printed on cardstock using my computer and printer. I cut the phrase and matting using the long rectangle nestabilities and the scalloped long rectangle nestability. All in all, I think I like my first attempt with the Cricut stamps!!

Loving This Monday

I just have to share: FedEx just left an amazing package at my door! As you probably know, I have been selected to guest design at Christmas With The Cricut in November. Provo Craft is a major sponsor of CWTC. Provo Craft agreed to send the guest designers the Winter Woodlands cartridge, which will be the featured November cartridge at CWTC. So, I expected a cartridge and maybe one other product. We were told we could request the stamping or embossing kit and that we MIGHT get one of them.

My box contained not just the cartridge, but also a plethora of additional product!! I had not one, not two, but three Cricut stamping kits, two Cricut embossing kits, and one embossing refill kit. Can you say THANK YOU, PROVO CRAFT??? Thank you so much! What a great Monday morning surprise!

Spooky Halloween Decor

I had a wonderful surprise today: I received a surprise UPS delivery from Custom Crops. It contained two spray cans of Crafter's Companion, a new product for cleaning and resurfacing your cricut mats. Also in the box was the new cartridge, Winter Woodlands. Sweet!!

I wasn't feeling 100% today; my allergies in over-drive with sneezing, sniffling, coughing and general snorting (well not really) pretty much confined me to the house. What a perfect day to play with a new cartridge.

Maria, a member of the Custom Crops design team, made THE CUTEST 3D Halloween house using Winter Woodlands. Sadly she did not use design studio so there was no cut file. I thought I would have a go at my own 3D Haunted House.

I used Bldg 5 on the cartridge, and set the cutting size to 10 inches for all parts of the house. Like Maria, I used Paper Doll Dress Up for my haunting pieces: Ghosts, spider webs, mummies, etc.

I mounted my house, tree, tombstones, and assorted confetti trim on a piece of 12 x 12 hunter green cardstock and placed it the Haunted 3D scene in a Southern Living at Home tray. The tray will make it easy to relocate the house should need arise, but also it looks cut on my coffee table.

By the way, I have not stated how awesome the Winter Woodlands seems to be. I cannot wait to spend more time playing!!

Guest Designer Gig at Chirstmas With the Cricut

Can you say EXCITED??? I am super excited (or is that Uber-excited?)! I have been selected to be a guest designer for a week in November at the Christmas with the Cricut blog site. Joy, Melanie and Tammy have the most wonder Cricut Christmas site on the Internet. Each week follows the same format, with new projects everyday. For example, today is simple card Monday. I have been so inspired and excited by the daily project that I was amazed when I was approached to be a guest designer.

Saying yes, Yes, YES! was a no-brainer for me: I love Christmas, I love my cricky, and I know that these ladies are just awesome. So no way I was not going to say YES! And I was doubly excited to see that I will be sharing my design week with Jeannie (from A Place for My Card blog). Jeannie is someone that I have never met in person but can just tell from reading her posting on both her blog and the cricut MB that she is a sweet, sweet woman!! I may be in over my head, but I will have great company as I go down!

Jeannie and I will be featuring the Winter Woodlands and From My Kitchen cartridges for our week of as guest designer. I have already designed two of my projects, but I am floundering for the other four....

The guest designer schedule at CWTC for the month of November follows:

November 1-7

November 8 - 14

November 15 - 21

November 22 - 28

Stampin' Up - Cricut - Spellbinders Combo Card

Last Saturday our local Stampin' Up Demonstrator had a post-convention Open House. I dropped by to oohhhh and aahhh over her latest products, check out her (awesome!) make and take, and to hear about her convention. I found that Steph was selling some of her older stamp sets. All last year I eyed a specific stamp set, but kept finding other things I thought I needed when ordering. But guess who had that set on sale?

This card is the first made with my new stamp set; I love these tags. I did not have the correct punch for the stamp set.... But cricut had the correct cut!!! I found a square tag on one of my cartridges with the same number of scallops!! Wooo-hooo! I cricut cut my tags, then stamped!!!
There are three stamps in the set, so I still have two more stamps to use yet!!

I will admit that my favorite of today's four projects is my Hello Kitty Halloween card. Kitty is so adorable in her black cat costume!

BBTB Pooh Gift Box

Happy Labor Day! I hope all of you (at least in the US) are enjoying a day with your families and friends and not missing work at all!
This week's challenge cut at BBTB is the gift box on the Pooh and Friends cartridge. I have been in a Holiday mood, focusing a lot on Halloween and Christmas projects this week. So... I decided to use JOTS and make a Christmas card. Probably not too original, but as I said I have been rather single-minded in my Holiday themes of late.

Also while I have you here let me encourage you to stop back later in the week. I will have four new projects release this week at Custom Crops (which I will preview here) and also I have been working on a couple of projects just for me (which I will also preview here). I look forward to sharing those projects with you this week.

We Have A Winner and Two New Cards

Congratulations to random blogger comment #3, Bonnie! Bonnie is the winner of this week's blog candy. Bonnie I sent you an email so please watch your inbox. Also, I am still waiting to hear back from Karen on my earlier mini-blog candy.

I went to a Stampin' Up open house today and made THE CUTEST make and take card! Steph always has such great ideas to share.

This afternoon I worked on Monday's BBTB challenge... No peeking until Monday so I cannot share yet. I also worked on two cards. This first, the Happy Halloween card was designed using Lyrical Letters and Wild Card. I like the simplicity of the uncluttered design and the black and orange papers.

The second card is a collage of leftovers. Each element on this card was leftover from a previous card or project. I decided to combine them all together and made this leftovers card!

Milestone Number WInner - Karen!

We have a winner: Karen McPherson! Karen guessed 10,122.... Of course Randi guess 210,00!!! Yikes!!! But Karen came the closest.

The real milestone number reached was 15,000.

Some blog writes will probably roll their eyes at ONLY 15,000. But I am honored that so many of my files were downloaded. It is a statement to the Cricut as well.... How much we all love this amazing machine and truly (and sappy) how it has changed our paper crafting.

Finally, I am sharing previews of a new project .... It was made for Custom Crops .... You can follow the blinkie to the left to my page at CC for articles, instructions and cut files.... all for free.... and for this amazing Holiday Planner. While you are there, I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment on my articles.
