July Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop with a Sneak Peek

As I stated above, I am using a new stamp set, Angels of Peace, for today's project. Since the theme of this month's IIBH is SPARKLE, I took a slightly different approach to today's card. I started with VersaMark Ink and applied Stampin' Up! Gold Embossing powder to the stamped image. After heat embossing, I used a water painter brush and ink to watercolor my stamped image.

When I finished water coloring the image, I added Wink of Stella to the angel's wings and dress, and a touch or two to her hair. I cut the stamped image out with layered dies that until this very moment I did not realized were no longer available! How embarrassing! I usually do a much better job of tracking my out-of-date products.

I used designer series paper from two different paper sets, the gold stripe is from Expressions in Ink while the plaid is from Peaceful Prints, a *new* set of paper available with our SECOND SALE-A-BRATION catalog, also available August 3rd. I also used some strips of gold foil specialty paper.

I finished the card with new ribbon, gold twine, new sequins, and gold ephemera.

July Demonstrator Training Program Blog Hop

Hello Stampin' Friends! Today I am participating in Bruno and Kylie Bertucci's Demonstrator Training Program Blog Hop. Bruno and Kylie offer training to Stampin' Up! Today's card has a story, and it began yesterday at our team's monthly Zoom meeting. We had a mystery stampin' challenge. I ADORE mystery stampin'! The way it works is, you are given a list of general supplies to prepare. Then, in our case, you follow verbal instructions and assemble your card your way.

Yesterday's general supply list was:

Cut a 5" x 4" piece of designer series paper,
Make a card base from matching cardstock,
Cut or punch a sentiment tag, and
Gather any embellishments you choose to use.

I chose the Expressions in Ink designer series paper, and I cut it with the large Scalloped Contour die - which just happens to be 5" x 4". I chose thick white chardstock for my base card, and I embossed the card front. I cut a white tag with the Painted Label dies. And finally, I cut the detailed butterfly with the Butterfly Wings Dies in a coordinating piece of Expressions in Ink dsp and the solid butterfly layer in In-Color Shimmer Vellum. I had no idea what we were going to do with these elements.

At the end of our meeting we were instructed to make three angle cuts in the 5" x 4" piece of designer series paper and to affix that to the front of our card. We were instructed to use Stampin' Dimensionals to affix our label to the card front. Finally, we were told to embellish.

Using the elements I had pre-made, this is the card I created. I am not going to lie, I like that my card was different because I used the scalloped die cut. Everyone else just had a rectangle.

I finished my card by embellishing it with In-Color gems and touches of ribbon and lace. Forgetting that this was a THANK YOU themed card hop, I used the Happy Birthday stamp from the Best Year stamp set. Oops. Hopefully, Kylie will forgive me for that lapse.

Monthly International Blog Highlight Post

Today's card features Stampin' Up!'s Hand-Penned suite, one of my favorites! I am totally crushing on the floral designer series paper and the fabulous color array included in the paper pack. I also adore the stamps and dies included in the bundle. They are just so pretty. For today's card, I picked up on the blue hues and the pale papaya.

I started with a base card from the Hand-Penned Memories & More Cards & Envelopes (#155501). I trimmed the base card down to 6" x 4.24". Next, I created the yellow frame cutting the dsp to 2.5" x 4" and cutting a slit in the right hand side through which to slide the floral print. Using the scalloped edge die I cut a pretty edge on the left side a floral print rectangle. After die cutting I cut the floral print to 5.5" x 4". I inserted the left side of the floral through the slit in the yellow piece and adhered the two pieces together.

Using the scalloped dies from the Color & Contour bundle, I cut the blue Misty Moonlight matting and the green and white strip matting. I adhered the layers together with a layer of white in between.

For the gorgeous flower on the front of the card, using Memento black ink I stamped the flower onto white cardstock. I then stamped again without reinking to create the back layer of the flower. I used Stampin' Blend markers (Pale Papaya combo, Misty Moonlight combo, and Soft Succulent combo) to color the flower parts. After die cutting the flowers with the Hand-Penned dies, I used Stampin' Dimensional dots to add dimension to the flowers and affixed them onto the blue frame-like mattings.

For finishing details I tied a Pale Papaya ribbon around the flower stems. I cut a layered circle using the same yellow as the frame and a layer of vellum. I stamped the sentiment onto the vellum and adhered it to the yellow circle. For a final touch I added a splattering Pale Papaya gems.
