Christmas and Hanukkah Cards

Hello friends!  Welcome to my Christmas and Hanukkah Cricut Challenge from Bitten By the Bug 2.  I am hosting this week's challenge and as we proceed into the holy weekend and the week beyond, I thought it would be appropriate if we used a Nativity or a Menorah on our projects this week.  I made two cards, one featuring each of our challenge cuts.

My first card is this trifold shutter card featuring a wreath ringed Nativity.  I used four Cricut cartridges, in addition to basic shapes, Flower Market, Teresa Collins December 25, A Quilted Christmas, and Anna's Winter Wonderland.

I am going to attempt to break the card elements down for you - I used basic shapes to build the base card and blue cuts.  The Nativity was cut using Theresa Collins December 25. The holly spray in the top middle section of the card was cut uing Anna's Winter Wonderland.  The sheep were cut from A Quilted Christmas.  And everything else, the wreath and bow, snowflakes, poinsettias, and Merry Christmas sentiment, were cut from the Flower Market cartridge.

I finished the card by adding yellow gems to the poinsettias, small stars to the "sky", and gold sequins around the sentiment.

My Menorah card is for a friend who will be celebrating Hanukkah beginning December 24.  I used two Cricut cartridges to create this card, Family Album and Joys of the Season.  The Menorah is from Joys of the season, and the rest of the card cuts were selected from a scrapbook layout on the Family Album cartridge.

I used traditional blues and gold for my card elements and added a few gold sequins. I had to laugh when I saw my Design Team sister - Lynn's card.  We used many of the same cuts arranged in a similar way.  I actually prefer her clean card to my busy one, but do not tell my scrapping friends that (they think I generally miss a couple of good stopping points when paper crafting).

Have you been by the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog and viewed the beautiful projects the Design Team created for you this week?  They are so inspirational.  We love it when you join our weekly challenges, and especially this week.

The Bitten By the Bug 2 Design Team will be break next week so this challenge only will continue for two weeks.  You have until January 1st to enter this challenge.

When BBTB2 returns on January 2, we will have a special announcement for the new year.

Christmas Ornament Card

Hello friends!  Welcome to this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut challenge post.  My very sweet Design Team sister, Emily, chose this week's challenge. Emily asked that the team use a Christmas ornament, or other holiday symbol (Menorah, Star, etc.) on a project this week.  I decided to use Christmas ornaments.

I wanted to try something a little different with this challenge.  I only used one Cricut cartridge - Close To My Heart's Artbooking. The card was designed in Design Space.  I used two of the book pages on the Artbooking cartridge, along with the cut and weld features in Design Space, to transform the pages into this Christmas card.

Additional snowflakes were cut in white and pink cardstock to embellish the ornaments. Clear gems were attached to add a little bling to the snowflakes.

I finished the front of the card with pink sequins to coordinate with the color scheme.

I love that the inside of the card still has plenty of space to write a message and sign the card.

If you have not already been by the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog today, please head over and check out the great Christmas ornament and Christmas symbol projects the Design Team created to inspire you.

I invite you to join us in this week's challenge.  Create your own Christmas ornament or symbol project and link up with us at the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog.

Christmas Package Tags

Hello friends! Just a quick post today to share what I am up to.  Today is wrapping day. I have only wrapped about one-quarter of the Christmas packages so today I am hoping to knock out the rest of the wrapping (this is the point where I usually jump into a made up obnoxious Rap wrap song - to the collective eye roll of my offspring).  And what do we need when we are wrapping packages???  Tags!

I used the Flower Market cartridge and whipped up a few very quick and very easy gift tags.  Yes, this is another shameless Flower Market promotional blog post.... But also a glimpse into my day.

I hope that all of you have a nice Sunday.  I will be back tomorrow with my weekly Bitten By the Bug 2 post.

Floral Thank You Card

Hello friends! No you are not seeing things.  I am a bit out of season with this (surprise!) non-Christmas card.  I made a couple of thank you cards - one to send and one to have on hand for "next time."  Of course you KNOW that I used the Close To My Heart Flower Market Cartridge on this card.  It is truly a shame that I am not getting my money's worth out of this cartridge!  Ha ha ha.

Seven different cuts from Flower Market were used on this card:  the Twig wreath, the green Laurel leaf, the blue leaf cut, the pink Laurel branch, the pink Daisy flower, the white Branch, and the Thank You Banner.  This was my first time making the Daisies and they were very easy to assemble.

All of the papers used are from Close To My Heart.  If you have not tried our cardstock on your Cricut, you are missing a wonderful cutting experience!!

I promise to get back to season cuts later this week.  Please forgive this brief detour!

Joyful Candy Cane Card

Hello friends! I am so excited that is is December.  I love the Christmas season so much.  I enjoy the decorating, baking, planning, and organizing.  I am already working on our menu and activities for Christmas Eve.  And next Saturday I will be riding the Santa Express Train with my husband, daughter, son-in-law, and darling grandchildren!  Avaleigh is 22 months old and she is so fun to behold this year. And yes, I enjoy making Christmas cards, packages, and tags!

Today I am sharing this Joyful Candy Cane card, which is my project for this week's Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge.  Our wonderful Caroline selected Christmas Words as this week's Cricut cut Challenge.  I used two Cricut Cartridges - Anna's Christmas Kitsch and Close To My Heart Artbooking.

I chose the word JOY for the Christmas word challenge.  This version of Joy is found on the Artbooking Cartridge.  I cut the word Joy in red metallic cardstock. I also cut a few little holly leaves and berries.

From Anna's Christmas Kitsch cartridge, I chose the beautiful candy cane cut.  I love how elegant the candy cane looks.  I cut it a combination of white cardstock, red metallic cardstock, and green cardstock (from which I saved the leaves only). I carefully layered the cuts together - a challenge as the edges of the white cut can be very thin.

The base card is an SVG easel card from my SVG file stash.  I cut the base card in red cardstock.  Next I cut white accent matting for the top layer and a white layer with a sentiment written by the Cricut for the inside of the card.  I added a little notch to the inside sentiment layer of cardstock, something I like to do when making an easel card.  Add the little notch provides a rest for the top of the card so that it will stay open.  Finally I cut a red, white, and gray strip pattern (on an angle) for the the top layer of the card.

I attached the word Joy and the candy cane to the striped layer.  I finished the card with the holly embellishments and an assortment of teal sequins - stars and circles.

Have you been over the to the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog yet today?  The design team has created a selection of Christmas Word projects to inspire your Christmas crafting.  We hope that the team inspires you to enter this week's challenge and share our Christmas spirit!!
