Be Yourself Card and News

Hello friends!  Today I have a card to share, a card I made a couple of weeks ago.  Remember when we celebrated National Margarita Day at BBTB2?  This was my first draft card for that week, but then I had the idea to create the Mexican style tile and a whole new card was born.  However, I still like this card and thought I would share it with you also.  Before I get into the details though, let's talk about a limited time TRADE UP special that Cricut is running.

Now through February 23 Cricut is offering a onetime TRADE UP OFFER.  You just need to photograph your current Cricut (one of 7 machines - see them HERE) and the serial number from the plate.  Send that to Cricut and they will send you a $50.00 credit voucher toward a Cricut Explore.   For all of the details, click my link at the top of the page, select the Trade Up tab when you arrive at the Cricut page.  My link above is an affiliate link.

I am not going to go into serious depth about the Cricut Explore, but I am going to tell you that this is my favorite cutting machine ever.  I cannot even tell you the current location of my silhouette machine - it is stashed in my scraproom some place.  What I love about the Explore is: the great detail it cuts, the ease of use with Design Space, the print and cut, the writing feature is outstanding (the Explore wrote the sentiment on today's card). The service!  Truly, my favorite cutting machine EV-ERR.

As I said above, today's card was originally designed for the National Margarita Day.  However, I decided that it was not festive enough (especially after the idea for the Mexican tile) so I did not post this card.  I used three cartridges to create this card:  Suburbia, Mixed Drinks, and Paper Doll Dress Up, all of which are available in the Cricut Design Space subscription.  I also used basic shapes in Design Space, as well as the slice and weld features.

After assembling my cast of background models, I cut the layers in only two colors.  I made some additional copies so that I could snip certain pieces with scissors to embellish the cuts.

For my two main characters I used more color and print cardstock.  On the main woman I added length to her dress using basic shapes.  I added a color from PDDU, and I added hair to both the woman and the man using Paper Doll Dress Up. And of course all of the beverages came from Mixed Drinks.

This was actually a fun card to make and I hope you like it.
