Merry Christmas

Hello friends! Merry Christmas to one and all!!!  Today is a special day for many of us, and for Doug and I it is especially wonderful as it our first Christmas with our granddaughter.  So instead of the usual Christmas family photo or JibJab videos where I embarrass my children, I am going to share eleven months of Avaleigh!!!  The first photo (above) is Bethany and John really meeting their baby for the first time!

In the photo above Avaleigh is only one day old and already dressing like a diva and charming us with her sweetness!

At three month Avaleigh was cooing and chatting and we could listen to her ALL DAY!

By four months Gerber missed their chance to have the cutest Gerber baby EVER!!

At seven months Avaleigh went all 1920s flapper on us!  She loved the little chair and the pearls (that's Gramma's girl)!

For Halloween she was simply Boo-tiful.  Cutest little witch I have ever seen!!

On December first Avaliegh wore one of her Christmas PJs over and I just had to snap a few photos before she dressed for the day.

On December second I took more photos of Avaleigh, this time in her Christmas smocked Bishop.  She is such a little darling.

A couple of weeks ago Avaleigh spent time exploring my Christmas tree and I just had to snap a few photographs, because THAT wonder on her face was too precious not to document.

I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday!
May we all experience Christmas through the eyes of child!!

Last Minute Projects and Get Togethers

Hello friends! I am back today to share a couple of projects and a few photos of Christmas fun.  I am going to begin by sharing my cookie box (okay, really it is Mary and Leo at SVGCuts Cookie box).  I used the Cricut Explore and imported this great box.  I sized the box to be seven and a half inches around.

Our next door neighbors are leaving today to visit their son and daughter-in-law in Charlotte.  They will be gone until after Christmas, so their cookie box had to be delivered last night.

I used SVGcuts' great cookie box to hold their treats.  After cutting out the pieces, I found instructions for assembly on YouTube.  This box went together so easily and I am very happy with it.

I like this box so much that I plan to make more for the other neighbors.  Of course I will also be making more cookies as the first batches of each cookie served Doug's co-workers, our weekend visitors, the first set of neighbors, and Doug and I nibbling (so bad for my diet)!

With so many commitments through the holidays, I was pleased to have the time to attend a fun lunch get together hosted by my friend Suzanne.  There were ten of us who gathered to share the friendship and the season.

I confess that I had to photoshop myself (kneeling on a stool) into the this photo.  We wanted full group photos, but we did not have an extra person.  I could not believe that I forgot my camera and was forced to use my iPhone camera.  Not too bad, really.  Using Paint.net, I was able to cut myself out of another photo and insert myself into this photograph.  Starting at the far left bottom, we have: Toby, me, Susan, Kathy, Beth, Jenny, Jan, Suzanne, Lila, and Sally.

This last weekend Doug and I thoroughly enjoyed a fun visit from his brother and sister-in-law.  I just love these two so much.  We really did not do anything note worthy, just hung out and enjoyed one another's company.

I will say that they fell in love with Avaleigh.  She charmed and entertained them and they were completely smitten!

One last item to share today, the Hershey chocolate bar treats I made for John and Bethany's students.  This was a very easy project and I was very pleased with how they came out and that the children really liked their snowman treats.

I hope to get back again before Christmas, though if I do not, I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!!

Santa Claus IS Coming To Town

Hello friends!  Welcome to our Christmas week Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge!  My amazing Design Team sister, Melanie, has challenged us to use a Cricut cut Santa Claus on our project this week.  Going with the gift wrap projects I have been posting, I created four Santa Clause embellished gift tags. I used five Cricut Cartridges to create my four gift tags:  Artiste, Doodlecharms, Christmas Kitsch, Holly and Ivy, and A Quilted Christmas.

My first tag is this fun Christmas bulb shaped tag.  I used the bulb shape from Doodlecharms and added the Santa from Christmas Kitsch.

My second tag uses the Santa from A Quilted Christmas and a tag shape from Artiste.

For the third gift tag I used the same Santa from Christmas Kitsch.  This time he is on a basic tag shape from Artiste.

My fourth and final tag again used the Quilted Christmas Santa, the HoHoHo from Artiste, and the snow globe cut from the Holly and Ivy cartridge.  I deleted the center of the original snow globe and created my own globe fill.

I thought you might like to see one of the tags on a actual package.  Above is one of my Santas on a cute package with gift wrap that features Santa's wardrobe!  It is "To:  Dad / From:  Duncan".

I know this is a busy week for a lot of you.  My week is actually going to slow down some.  Avaleigh's parents are out of school on break so I will not be providing childcare, and my mom is visiting my brother's family for Christmas so I will have more free time this week.  I should actually have more time to spend in my scrap room, at least for couple of days (which I hope to spend CLEANING the craftroom).

I hope you too can find some time to craft this week.  Please take a few minutes and join us in the Bitten By The Bug 2 Santa Claus challenge.  Create you NEW Cricut project and link in to the original post at BBTB2.

More Christmas Cheer!

Hello friends.  I am back with even more gift tags and decorations to share today.  All of the tags were made with SVG files and or Cricut cuts.  I used Cricut tags for all of the tags.

The gingerbread people above were cut from SVG files.  I sized them to fit the tags.

Hello Kitty is of course from the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge.  I love this little elf Kitty!

The Elves above are also from SVG files.  Aren't they cute.  You know how they would be even cuter?  If I had realized BEFORE I glued them together that the girl's hair was supposed to be tucked BEHIND her little pointed ears.  Oops!!

The tag above is for my mom's biggest gift.  It is not really from Duncan (the dog), but that worked for the photo!  The tag and gifts were cut with using Cricut cartridge cuts.  The poinsettia is from an SVG file set.

One of my favorite simple tags is the coffee cup below.  I love the colors and the simple design.  AND I like that Cricut filled out the to/from tag for me!!

Now how about a few more Christmas decor photos.   Please don't think harshly of us as we are Lutherans, the following photo is from our bar top.  My theory is, if we are going to have a bar, it MUST be holiday-ized also!

The tree below (Horrid photo) is Avaleigh's Skinny Santa Tree.  I decided to set aside all of the Santa ornaments and create a special tree just for Avaleigh.  I plan to add additional Santa ornaments each year.... Until I need a larger tree.  Ha.

Speaking of horrid photos (!), below is a photo of my entry table.  I should have taken another photo.  Sorry.  Anyway, I always put the Christmas cards in the Christmas theme Polish pottery.  Also on the table are our Advent Calendar, made a few years ago, and a Christmas cross stitch I made 26 years ago.  Every year I find a place to display the cross stitch.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I will be back on Monday with the final Bitten By the Bug 2 post of the year!

Spreading Christmas Cheer

Hello friends!  I have been a busy little elf and I thought it might be time to share share a few of my crafting ventures.  Last year Cricut released a cut file called "Elf Yourself".  It is a print and cut that you assemble, adding a photo to the elf's face.  I thought these would be cute package tags for my adult children and for my nephew.

I used an assortment of Christmas paper scraps to create the background tags using Cricut tag cuts.  I added holly and Christmas lights to embellish the elf tags, as well as glitter tape and a few gems.  I know they are silly, but I really enjoyed making the elf tags!

In addition to the tags, I have also made a couple of special sized Christmas gift boxes.  I could not find a perfect sized box for the gift below, so I used an SVG cut file from SVG.com - their wine bottle box - and created my own box.  I added a new lid to the box as well as the Nutcracker decoration and tag.  The Nutcracker on this tall box looks quite distinguished under the tree!

I will be back with more Christmas inspiration on Friday.  In the meantime, I am going to share a few photos of my 2016 Christmas decor.

Elegant Ornament Christmas Card

Hello friends!  Are you ready for Christmas?  Less than two weeks to go and I confess, I am getting quite excited.  I have been busy baking and crafting.  I have made a bunch of gift tags and package decorations.  I will now be moving on to crafts for my daughter's second grade students and my son-in-law's fourth and fifth grade students.

Today is Monday and that means it is time for the weekly Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge.  My wonderful design team sister, Maureen, is hosting this week's challenge - use a Cricut cut ornament or make an ornament using your Cricut.

I used two cartridges to create this Elegant Ornament Christmas card - Winter Wonderland and Teresa Collins Christmas Holly.  I cut two ornaments from Winter Wonderland as well as the greenery.   The Merry Christmas phrase is from Teresa Collins Christmas Holly mini cartridge.  I thought this cut worked well with the holly and ornaments.

I know this is a busy time of year for most of us, but I would like to encourage you to find time to join us at Bitten By The Bug 2 for this week's Cricut challenge.  Use your Cricut cutting machine to create a project using an ornament from any Cricut cartridge, or create an ornament using Cricut cuts. Using the linkup tool at the bottom of the Ornament Challenge post at BBTB2.

Deer Me Snowglobe Tag

Hello friends, welcome to this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 Cricut challenge, another fun Christmas themed week.  My sweet and talented Design Sister (because truly, they all ARE), Lynn challenged us to create a Christmas project featuring a bird or animal.
I used three Cricut cartridges on my Christmas Tag:  Cindy Loo, Photo Props, and Winter and Ivy.  The two deer were cut using the Cindy Loo cartridge.  I cut the blue deer a bit larger than the pink to coordinate with their gender color assignments.  The snow globe was cut using the globe on the Winter and Ivey cartridge.  I love the background on this snow globe.  I used the globe cut to create other Christmas tags this season also.  The North Pole sign was cut using the Photo Props cartridge.  It is cuts like those from Winter and Ivey and Photo Props that make me appreciate my subscription to Design Space.
The card is assembled in layers with pop dots added for dimension under the deer. I added white dashes to the globe edges and a glint of white in the eyes of the deer.  Detailing this tag was very simple.  The base of the snow globe provided a perfect location to add the two/from wording.   And best of all, it looks fabulous on its Christmas package!
I am loving our Christmas themed challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2.  Although I am not posting to my blog as regularly as I should be, I am getting so much paper crafting done and have been so inspired by the last two and next two challenges.  I hope that you make time to join us in the weekly challenges as you too might be inspired!
