Hello Kitty Merry Wreath Card

Hello friends!  Today is the last day of November and that means it is time to begin decking of the halls and hanging of the greens!  My house is ALMOST fully decorated, I just need to put the finishing touches on a couple of areas.  I need to finish the second tree, which is done in all Santas and bells for Avaleigh, and put out the Nativity sets.

This week's Cricut challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2 is all about the Hanging of the Greens.  My sweet and talented design team sister, Laurie, challenged the team to create a Christmas project featuring any seasonal plant or tree.  I could not help myself, I jumped at the chance to use this pretty holly wreath from Close To My Heart's Artistry cartridge.   I added pine cones from Art Philosophy and berries using small round cuts.

Anyone who reads my blog on any regularity knows that I adore Hello Kitty.  She is just so cute!  I could not resist using the sweet little reindeer Kitty on this card.  I love her stylish hat and coat and love that her bow matches the coat.

I cut the banner from Art Philosophy and used a stamp from my stash to add the Merry Christmas sentiment.

You are going to LOVE the Hanging of the Greens project my design team sisters created.  Be sure to stop by the BBTB2 blog and check out their fabulous projects.  And, hopefully YOU will find some time this week to join us in this week's challenge.  We do get so excited when you join our weekly challenges!

Give Thanks Card

Hey there, friends!  Happy Thanksgiving week to those in the States.  Today I am sharing my card for this week's Cricut Challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2.  My sweet and talented Design Team sister, L.B., is hosting this week's challenge.  L.B. asked the team to use the word THANKS on a project. Thanksgiving is about being thankful for family, friends, and all that we have in our lives, and L.B. wanted to encourage all of us to be filled with Thanks!

I used two Cricut cartridges to create this simple card, Thanksgiving and Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art.  I love the wheat cut from the Thanksgiving cartridge, so fall like.  I always think of the harvest at Thanksgiving time.  The phrase Give Thanks was cut using MS Seasonal cake art.  There are some really great cuts on those cake cartridges!

I used overlapping layers of scraps from my stash to create the background matting for my card.  I wanted to keep it simple, yet add a bit of color.  I achieved that by adding a sprinkling of colorful sequins.

If you have not already done so, I invite you to go by the Bitten by the Bug 2 blog and check out the wonderful projects my design team sisters have created.  Also, if you have time, please share your Thanks projects with us!

We should have a quite Thanksgiving this year.  It is our year to have our adult children on Christmas day, so the in-laws will be hosting Thanksgiving this year.  Mom, Doug, and I are planning a quite day together.

Just in case I do not post again this week, I wish all of you who will be celebrating a wonderful time with friends, family, or whomever you will be spending your day.  I am thankful that each of you supports my blog and this crafting side of my life!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall Leaves Shaker Card

Hello friends!  Today is Monday and that means it is time for another Bitten By The Bug 2 Cricut Challenge.  This week's challenge was selected by my talented Design Team sister, Kelly.  Kelly challenged the Design Team to use Cricut cut "LEAVES" on a a fall project.   I chose to make a shaker card using the Art Philosophy cartridge.

I used the cut out leaf card front on the Art Philosophy cartridge as well as four additional leaves.   After cutting the leaves, I used an embossing pen on the edges of the leaves outlines and veins then added embossing powder and heated.  I like the shiny finish the embossing gives the leaves.

I cut off the back of the card and applied the leaves and the window to the front of the card.  I then added the shaker fill and back.  I took the front of the card and mounted it onto a printed matting and a deep red card front.

Using to the fonts on my computer and the add text feature, I created the Happy Thanksgiving cut. After affixing the words to the card front, I added CTMH sequins.  I finished the card with white gel pen doodling.

I would like to invite you to join us in this week's Cricut Leaf Challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2.  Create your own fall leaf project and post under the original challenge at the BBTB2 blog.

The Dickens Village 2015

Hello friends.  I had a Christmas card project all set to share with you, but I am sharing my first Christmas Decor project of the 2015 season:  My Dickens Village.

The Village is built on a two piece Styrofoam base which I enhanced with inked walked ways and stone retaining walls.  The village is 18 x 48 inches.  I placed this on the buffet section of an large antique serving piece (seven feet tall x fifty-four inches wide).  This is the largest surface on the cabinet, with open shelves above.  I actually purchased two additional styrofoam bases (12 inches deep) to use on the upper shelves as my Village grows.

Last year after Christmas I purchased some very inexpensive Lexmark people and two vendors.  Sadly, they are not of the same quality as the Dept 56 pieces.

Does this guy look guilty or what?  I call this the nineteenth century Starbucks.  NO CUP drama in my Village.

Colorful Fall Wreath Card

Hello friends, welcome to this week's Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge post.  My fantastic Design Team sister, Emily, is in charge of this week's challenge.  Emily asked the team to create projects using the colors of fall: browns, reds, oranges, golds, etc.  Great seasonal challenge idea, Emily!!!

I used three cartridge to create this colorful fall wreath card.   The wreath was cut using using a fall wreath from the Close To My Heart Artistry cartridge.  I then sized the individual leaf cuts, also on Artistry, to fit the wreath.  I found the acorns on the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge, and again I sized the acorns to fit the wreath.

The Give Thanks sentiment was cut using Martha Stewart's Season Cake Art cartridge.  I may not make Cricut decorated cakes (or any other kind of cake for that matter!) any more, but the cartridges are wonderful for paper crafting.

The card stock is all Close To My Heart card stock, which cuts amazingly well on the Cricut.   Love my CTMH card stock colors!

I want to apologize for not leaving comments last week.  My mom, the baby, and I were sharing a virus.  Saturday my daughter-in-law came down with the virus, and today Doug became ill.  I will be happy when this virus hits the road.

I would like to invite you to join our challenge this week.  Create your own project using the spectacular palette of fall colors and link up with us at the Fall Colors challenge over at the Bitten By The Bug 2 blog.

Thanksgiving Door Card

Hello friends.  Can you believe it is November already?  I hate to sound old, but.... If the shoe fits....

Today I am sharing my Bitten By The Bug 2 project for the week.  Our French Design Team sister, Dany, selected this week's Cricut Challenge cut.  Dany asked us to use Pumpkins on a fall themed project.  With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I have started on my Thanksgiving cards - something I never sent out before becoming a paper crafter!

I used three Cricut Cartridges to create this project, along with other materials.  The door was cut by hand, as were the panels.  I used black ink on the door and door panel edges.  The door handle was cut using the French Manor cartridge.  I love that door handle.  The pumpkins were cut using the Pooh and Friends cartridge.  I took three of the negative cut areas from the orange part of the pumpkins to make additional swirls for the top of the pumpkins.

The wreath was made using a die and stamp set I purchased from a friend.  I am really enjoying using this set, you may have seen the Christmas cards I created with this previously.  The banner and "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment were created with the Cricut also.  The banner was cut from the Close To My Heart Artistry cartridge.  I used a font on my computer and had the Cricut write the sentiment on the banner.

This card actually looks even better in real life.  I had difficulty getting the card to photograph true to color.

I hope that you can find some time this week to join us in our fall pumpkin challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2.  Our design team loves to see your ideas on our weekly challenges.

Not only is today the first Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge of November, it is also a new month and new monthly specials at Close To My Heart.
