Halloween Treat Boxes

Happy Halloween!   I am sneaking in a quick post before we are over run with little ghouls, super heroes, Annas and Elsas, Avengers, etc.  As always I make special treats for our special Trick or Treaters.  We have a handful of darling immediate neighbor children for whom I always create something special.  This year Doug was in charge of the treats and I took care of the containers.

I used two cartridges to create these boxes - Autumn Celebrations and Hello Kitty Greetings.  I made HK for the girls and Frankie for the boys!  I think both came out darling.

Doug purchased full size candy bars for our special kids as well as a ton of fun size candy.  These little boxes (which are 1 1/8 inch deep) held the full size candy bar, a charms blow pop, and two fun size candies.

I think EVERYONE will be happy they stopped by our house tonight.  Doug way over bought on the candy and I plan to give a "handful" to every child who stops by.  I have been dieting since July 1 and I do not need extra candy in the house to tempt me.  I specifically asked Doug to get candy that I did not like.  Did he listen?  Oh NOOOO!  Our kitchen is over run with Snickers and Milky Ways.... Even extra full size bars.  That was just not nice of him!!  However, 36 pounds down in my diet I do not plan to blow it by eating a candy bar!!!

I hope you have a happy Halloween!

Halloween Classroom Treats

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing the Halloween Treats I made for my daughter and son-in-law to give to their students.   And as luck would have it, this project also works for our Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge this week, GOING BATTY!  Our darling Caroline challenged us to use a BAT on our project this week.  There are some great bat cuts in the Cricut library, but I chose to use the Bat sucker holder on the Creepy Critters cartridge.

The cut file for the basic Halloween sucker holders are available as a full set in Cricut Design Space.  The files are pre-sized to fit most standard suckers.  I used Charms Blow Pops, though Tootsie Pops would also fit nicely.

I recolored a couple of the pieces in the cut file.  I also added my own cuts to personalize the sucker holders.  I added the banner to the spider's web, the bows to the skeleton, and the bow to the pumpkin.  I used the Close To My Heart Artistry cartridge to cut the personalized cuts.

I think the addition of Halloween printed card stock really added to my sucker holders.  I especially like the skeleton now.  I was pleased with the pumpkin as well.  I wanted to make two of the cuts a bit more "girly".

I finished the sucker holders with white pen doodling and some white stamping.  I found a small Close To My Heart Happy Halloween stamp that fit nicely!

I used a variety of Close To My Heart card stock on this project.  I love the way the Cricut cuts the CTMH card stock.  The card stock is sold in packages of 25 12 x 12 inch sheets.  To see the variety of colors available, CLICK HERE!

I hope that you find time to join us for this week's Batty Challenge at BBTB2.  Please use the Cricut to create you Bat project then link up with us at BBTB2.  We love it when you join our challenges.

Merry Christmas Layout with the Stamp of the Month

Hey there, I am back today with another project using the Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month.  I have touted the wonders of this stamp set for nearly three weeks now, and I am not going to stop just yet!  Not only is this stamp set "the BOMB" for making your Christmas cards, just look at this fun Christmas layout!!

As I have mentioned previously, the stamp set coordinates with the ARTISTE cartridge.  Many, many of you already own Artiste as it was released a few years back,  Every Cricut cut on my layout came from the Artiste cartridge, including the ornaments, the blows, and the snowflakes.

This layout is a nice example of incorporating stamping into your scrapbooking.  I stamped the red striped ornaments, the greenery in the upper corners of the pages, and the word Believe across the bottom of both pages.  Simple and easy stamping that has a big impact on the overall layout.

Originally I planned for three photos across on the right hand page.  But I had already cut the little banner piece and the HO HO HO (both from Artiste) and forgot to use them.  So... I added a piece as a flip up element!  Not only can I add another photo to the right page, I can also add my journaling on the back side of the HO HO HO banner!

The papers used on this layout are also available in my CTMH on-line store.  The prints come from our new White Pines paper pack.  The reds, greens, and whites are all CTMH solid card stock.

The October Stamp of the Month is a limited edition stamp set, available on through October 31.  It retails for $17.95 as a stand alone set, or with a $50.00 CTMH order you can add the Stamp of the Month to your cart during checkout for only $5.00!!

I Believe Breast Cancer Awareness Card

Hello everyone.  Today I am sharing this week's very special Bitten By The Bug 2 Cricut Challenge. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and each year the BBTB2 Design Team holds a Breast Cancer Awareness Cricut challenge.  We hope that our efforts might make others more aware of the Breast Cancer statistics and might encourage others to take positive steps in early detection of Breast Cancer.  Please do complete Breast Self-Exams and, if you are over forty, go for an annual mammogram!

I am hosting this week's challenge and I asked the design team to use either Pink Lingerie or a Lady and create a Breast Cancer Awareness project using their Cricut.  I used three cartridges to create my card:  Forever Young, Pink Journey, and Art Deco.  I also used the Audrey Hepburn saying that I found in Cricut Design Space.

I love this saying and how it emphases why we need early detection:  with early detection their is hope for tomorrow and a miracle.  I used a Cricut pen and had the Explore write the sentiment on to white card stock.  I cut the word PINK and MIRACLES using the Explore.

My pink ribbon lady uses three cartridges.  The ribbon is from Pink Journey and I attached the arms from one of the women on Art Deco to my ribbon.  Isn't she fabulous?  I then sized the PINK lingerie from Forever Young to fit the ribbon woman.

After affixing the ribbon to the card front, I added two layers of pink matting before gluing the layers onto the card front.  I added pink pearls and a white lace paper clip embellishment.  Inside my card is another pink ribbon, with plenty of space left for writing an encouraging message.

I would like to invite you to join us in this week's challenge.  We are hopeful that our efforts my inspire others to remember to take care of themselves.  The more Cricut users we can have join our challenge, the more people that will see the posts on all of our blogs, and perhaps spread the word even further.  Please join us at Bitten By The Bug 2 this week!!

Snowflake SOTM Card

Hey-o friends!  Today I am back with another Christmas card featuring the Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month.  I did mention that I would be posting several projects featuring this stamp set so that you could get an idea of how to use the SOTM.

The October Stamp of the Month coordinates with the Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge allowing you to cut the fun ornament shapes prior to stamping.  On this card I used the striped ornament stamp and the "Christmas Love" circle stamp.   I enlarged the long ornament shape so that I could create a base layer and for the circle, I used the round ornament cut.  The ornaments are layered with thin pop dots creating a nice dimension and adding to the texture created by the snowflake embossing.

Shout out to my friend Susan F for allowing me to borrow her Northern Flurries embossing folder to create this card.  The matting card stock is from my stash,  The top layer of the card has a slight shimmery effect and is left over card stock from Bethany's wedding invitations.  I finished the card with stickles, gems, and sequins.

The October Stamp of the Month is a limited edition stamp set, available on through October 31.  It retails for $17.95 as a stand alone set, or with a $50.00 CTMH order you can add the Stamp of the Month to your cart during checkout for only $5.00!!

Wreath Christmas Cards in Two Colors

Hello friends.  Yes, yes I really am creating a third blog post this week!  I have Christmas cards to share!!

Last week I decided to get serious about crafting Christmas cards.  I have been making them mostly in sets of ten.  And best of all, I am truly enjoying my Christmas card crafting!!

This set of cards was created using a die and stamp set I recently purchased.  I also used a stitched edge die, another recent addition to my die stash.   I love this stamp set with its three layers of stamps and coordinating dies.  I stamped the wreath in three steps with my MISTI (info on Misti can be found here).  The first stamped image was the full wreath.  I used Close To My Heart Juniper ink to stamp the wreath onto White card stock.  The second stamp was the darker leaves, using CTMH Topiary ink.  And finally, I used Ruby ink and added the berries.

After using the stitch edged die on white card stock card front I stamped the sentiment in two steps.  I had to cut apart the sentiment.  I lined up all three words together on the Misti, then peeled off the word wonderful.  Using Topiary Ink again, I stamped the words HAPPY CHRISTMAS.  I then replaced the word wonderful and removed the other two words.  Using Ruby ink I stamped wonderful on all of the cards.  I have to say that using the Misti really expedites mass production (or in this case, 10 card production) of cards.

I cut the bow and the word Joy using red metallic card stock.  I used mini pop dots to attach the wreath to the white layer.  I chose two different colors of card stock to use as matting on the card fronts.  On the first card used Ruby card stock and the second card used Sweet Leaf card stock.

Thanks for stopping by and checking our my Christmas cards.  I will have more to share with you very soon!!  All of the Close To My Heart products I used to make these cards are linked to my on-line store in the text above.

Christmas Card with October's Stamp of the Month

Hey there!  I am back today to share a new Christmas card.  So you know how I keep telling you how great this month's Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month is, right?  Well I decided it was time to SHOW you how fabulous this SOTM set really is.  Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting a few projects created with this stamp set.  Today's very easy card is kicking off the series.

I used Close To My Heart white cards, white card stock, Ruby card stock, and Ruby ink to create this card.  The stamp set coordinates with Close To My Heart's Artiste Cartridge.  I cut the ornaments using the images from the cartridge, two red background ornaments and four white tops.  I stamped two copies of each of my ornaments, just in case I messed up one of them.

After assembling my card elements and stamping the light strand I decided to make use of the extra stamped ornaments.  I cut them down in size and glued them to the outside edges of the top layer of card.  I feel like this gave the card a "fuller" look.

I finished the card with gems and clear Stickles.

The October Stamp of the Month sets are always amazing.  Do not miss out on this one!!

Canadian Thanksgiving Turkeys

Hello friends, welcome to this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 Cricut Cut challenge.  Our challenge this week offers an homage to our neighbors to the north as they celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving this week!  Our challenge was to create a project using a Cricut cut turkey.

I used three Cricut Cartridges to create this card, Animal Kingdom, Doodlecharms, and Word Collage, as well as a punch.    I cut the three connected Turkeys from Animal Kingdom.  I used a white pen and markers to highlight the turkey's features and a branch punch from my stash to create their colorful feathers.  These poor guys look terrified!

I used a copper color Cricut pen in my Cricut Explore along with the Thanksgiving image from the Word Collage cartridge to create the background for my turkeys.  I love the way the Explore writes!!  I finished the background by adding green to the leaves in the background image.

Inside the card I added three turkeys, all roasted up, from Doodlecharms.  My poor turkeys were right to look nervous!  I added a few feather accents.  All of the card stock used on this card is from my Close To My Heart on-line store.  I love CTMH card stock!!  It cuts wonderfully on the Cricut.

So I have BIG NEWS!!!!  I am happy to report that Bitten by the Bug 2 is once again a challenge blog, complete with a link tool for you to join our challenges!!    We are back today with a new look and a new challenge.  We sincerely hope that you make time this week to join us at BBTB2!!!

Hello Kitty Halloween Layout

Hello friends, Susan here in soggy South Carolina.  I am not sure who or what ticked off Mother Nature, but really, enough already!  Areas of the state are truly disaster areas.  We are fortunate that we were on the side of the storm - still in the red and orange on the weather map - but not in the dark red area.  We are also fortunate that we live on high ground!!!   I know that many, many residents of the state are flooded out and I feel so bad for them.

So with the rain falling seemingly non-stop over the weekend, I had plenty of time to plan and work on my Bitten By the Bug 2 project for today.  Our very talented Melanie selected today's challenge, Halloween!  I do love Halloween.  Christmas is still my favorite holiday, but Halloween is very near the top of the list!  I know that Bethany and John purchased a darling outfit for Avaleigh to wear for Halloween, so I "pre-scrapped" her Halloween layout!

I used four Cricut Cartridges to make this layout:  Creepy Critters, Hello Kitty Greetings, Holiday Cakes, and Nursery Rhymes.  The card stock is from my Halloween stash, SEI Halloween paper from a few years ago, Close To My Heart solid card stock, and assorted generic card stock.

The fun spooky house was cut using the Creepy Critters cartridge from my Design Studio subscription.  I used fun argyle paper for the top layers on the house.  The trio of pumpkins sitting on the porch are from the Holiday Cakes cartridge.

I used the title, Boo to you, which is an SVG.  The polka-dot B, the little ghost, and a pumpkin (I substituted a larger pumpkin for one of the Os) spell Boo.  I just love the girly little ghost and I added the date, using the font on Nursery Rhymes, to the pumpkin.

I two pumpkins are a different SVG, which I did a lot of editing to.  I added an A to the circle on the large pumpkin - A for Avaleigh.  The A was also cut with Nursery Rhymes font.

And because she is so stinkin' cute, I added two Halloween Hello Kitty's to the layout.  I just love this version of Kitty.

I added pen work and gems to the layout.  All of the photos are double matted.  I will just need to select photos, trim, and adhere down.  And I will need to add some journaling under the large A pumpkin.

This is the point in our post where I would invite you to join us in the weekly challenge.  However, we are making a change and Bitten by the Bug 2 will be a "for inspiration only" blog while we address a few issues.  I hope that you continue to visit the blog and the design team members' blogs.
