Christmas Ornament Cards

Hello friends!  Now that fall is here I have decided that I MUST get my Christmas card making underway.  Last weekend my friend Peggy and I met three other friends at Scrapbook Creations (in Spartanburg, SC) and we each spent all day Saturday working on our Christmas cards.

While I only managed to knock out 12 cards, I did like them all.  I actually made 10 of this card, using a combination of dies and stamps.  I especially like that I was able to use my new edge stitch dies on this card.  I love the simple clean lines surrounding the decorative ornaments.

I have not decided on which sentiment stamp to use on the inside of the cards, though I did add the holly stamp inside (and looking at the above photo I realize that I forgot to color the interior holly on this card - oops).

One of the things I really like about this card is the gold card stock Peggy picked for our gold trim.  All of my gold card stock is super shiny metallic.  This card stock, while clearly gold in color, did not have the high sheen factor and actually photographs nicely.  It also added the touches of gold to the card without over powering the rest of the card.

Today is the last day of September and that means it is the last day that you can purchase the National Stamping Month - Hello, Life! Close To My Heart Stamp Sets.  The sets retail for $13.95 each, or $34.95 for all three sets (a savings of $6.90)!

Pumpkin Patch Scrapbook Layout

Hello friends!  Welcome to the week's Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge projects.  This week's challenge was selected by my sweet and talented Design Team sister, Michelle.  Because the first day of fall was just a few days ago, Michelle challenged the team (and you!) to create projects using the word Autumn or Fall.

Since we FINALLY had a few days where the temperature was cooler than 80 degrees (AKA Southern Fall) I decorated the house with fall decor and have begun planning fall activities.  In my anticipation, I called Bethany and asked her if she and John were planning to take Avaleigh to a pumpkin patch.  And of course she guessed the correct answer and said yes.  So, I am pre-scrapping the pages for Avaleigh's first trip to the pumpkin patch!

I used three cartridge and one SVG file to make this layout:  Disney Princesses, Pooh and Friends, and CTMH Artbooking.  The word Autumn and the phrase Family Fun are all from the CTMH Artbooking cartridge.  The bottom corner embellishments, the pumpkins and vines, were cut using Disney Princesses.  The upper corner pumpkins were cut using Pooh and Friends.  And finally, the scarecrow and sign were an SVG file.

I used scallop edged card stock for the background.  However, I thought the print on the card stock was a bit too green, so I cut fall card stock to insert into the middle of the scalloped background paper.  I used a CTMH card stock and assorted Fall themed papers from my stash.

I cut a strip of burlap ribbon to make a narrow strip to embellish the layout.  I thought the natural fiber added to the county fell of the layout.

My SVG set included pumpkins, but I did not use them.  They were too narrow and did not coordinate with the other pumpkins on the layout.

I cannot wait to have Avaliegh's first Pumpkin Patch visit photos to add to this layout!!!

If you have not already done so you should definitely go by the Bitten By The Bug 2 blog and see the fabulous fall/autumn projects my design sisters created.  Oh, and prepare to be wow'ed!!

Before you go, I would like to remind you that there are only a couple of days left to take advantage of the Close To My Heart September Specials!

Cookie Exchange Invitation

Hello friends.  No, I have not lost my mind and I am not planning to host a Cookie Exchange in September!  I am, however, getting an early start on designing a cute Cookie Exchange invitation thanks to this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge.  My sweet Design Team sister, the fabulous Melanie, is hosting this week's Cricut Cut Challenge.  And because today is National Pecan Cookie Day (Yum!) Melanie challenged the DT to create projects featuring Cookies.

I used four Cricut Cartridges on this project:  Close To My Heart Artistry for the pine trim and the chevron circle banner, Create A Critter 2 for the gingerbread man, Winter Wonderland for the holly cuts, and Creative Everyday Cards for the round card.

Creating this card gave me the opportunity to inventory my assortment of Christmas paper and I realized that I need to work on my Holiday paper stash.  I found some old, OLD prints!  Don't you just love it when you find an excuse.... errr ... REASON to purchase new paper?

I would like to invite you to join us this week in the Cookie Challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2.  We love it when you play along.  For some fabulous inspiration be sure to go by BBTB2 and check out the variety of fabulous projects our Design Team created!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Avaleigh's First Friends

Hello everyone.  I am back with furry friends layout with Avaleigh and her parents.  I used two cartridges to create this layout:  Close To My Heart Artistry and Baby Steps.   I had two photos of Avaleigh, one each with her parents, that were a bit under colored.  I thought if I combined the two, each as a 5 x 7 inch photo, that I could make this into a layout.

I love the photo above with John teaching Avaleigh how to pet their cat.  They actually have three cats, two they adopted and the third was dumped onto them, but the cat in the photo is the most friendly with the baby.

The cat cuts and yarn ball (as well as several other cuts on these pages) were cut from the CTMH new Artistry cartridge.  I have said it before and I am sure I will say it again, this cartridge is great in that it has such HUGE variety of cuts - seasons, holidays, pets, hobbies, etc, etc.

The baby cuts are from the Baby Steps cartridge.  It has been great for cutting embellishments for Avaleigh's scrapbook pages.   Note in the photo below - my daughter and her mini-self!!

All I have left to do on these pages is create the journaling.  I am thinking of adding the journaling between the two cats on the page below.

Thanks for stopping by today for this furry first friends layout!!

Hello Kitty Six Month Layout

Hello friends.  Today I am featuring a layout made for Avaleigh's six month photos and for our Bitten By The Bug 2 weekly challenge.  My sweet design team sister, Maureen, selected this week's Cricut challenge - Use your imagination and create a project using an imaginary entity. Some of the design team sisters used Disney characters, others went with fun monsters, but I chose Hello Kitty.  I do love Hello Kitty and even though my daughter does not like Kitty, she MUST be included in Avaleigh's scrapbooks!

It seems that Gramma forgot to have Avaleigh's six month old photos printed so I could not share the finished product.  I guess I am behind and have only printed through five months.  I need to get on it, our baby will be eight month old next week! Anyway, I included the photo above so you can see how well the photo will work with the paper I chose.

I used two cartridges to create this layout - Hello Kitty Greetings and Cindy Loo's font.  I realized that I had not used either of these cartridges recently so I went ahead and created an additional Hello Kitty layout for next month!

I finished the pages with some pen details on Kitty, the flowers, and the butterfly.  I had never cut the Hello Kitty butterfly before and I decided it was cute.

I am posting the pages individually so that you can see the details a bit better.  I really like the way the pen looks on the flowers.

Thank you for stopping by today. Please be sure to go by the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog and check out the adorable projects my DT sister created.  Also, we would love to have you join us in the weekly challenge.  Use any Cricut cartridge(s) and create a card, layout, or home decor project using an imaginary entity and link back to the original post at BBTB2

Labor Day Cheers to Teacher's Layout

Hello everyone and happy Labor Day.  Labor Day is a day of rest from work for most people here in the US, but it is also a day to honor those in many professions, which is just what we are doing at Bitten By The Bug 2 this week.  My sweet design team sister, Kelly, challenged the Design Team to create a project based on Labor Day or a profession.  Since I have four teacher children/in-laws I decided to celebrate teachers on this Labor Day.

This is a two page 12 x 12 inch layout featuring Bethany and John's school photos from last year.  I have had the photos just sitting around for sometime.  This challenge was the perfect opportunity to find a permanent home for the photos.

I want to begin by saying that NO, I do not need a color wheel - I need to make decisions sooner!  I know my layout is a hodge-podge of colors, but that is because I switched gears mid-project.  I had planned for this to be a fall color layout.  I found the fun CTMH paper from last year and JUST HAD TO USE IT.  Of course since I was already late beginning my project, it would have made very, very late had I stopped to change colors and recut the elements.

I used four Cricut Cartridges in creating this layout:  Artistry, Recess, Autumn Celebrations, and Create A Friend.  I used all Close To My Heart paper.

I included many, many details and extras on these pages, almost to the point of overkill.  I think the mixed colors contributes to making the pages look especially busy!

I love the little people I found to use on this page, both the teachers and the students.  I especially like this little guy below.

I hope that you find time during your labor day, or later in the week, to join us in this week's challenge.  Be sure to check the rules on the sidebar at the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog, then link in below the original post!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great labor day!
