Teacher's Pencils For The Classroom

Hello friends, welcome to this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge.  This week's Cricut challenge was selected by our fabulous Design Team member, Emily. Emily challenged us to create a project with our Cricut using the theme, "Back to School".

Since the only people going back to school in my life at the moment are my teacher children, I decided to finish a project I began some time ago and use it for this week's challenge post.

As most of my regular readers are aware, two of my children and their spouses are teachers.  Three of them work in the elementary school setting and find that the students constantly lose their pencils, thus my Teacher's Pencils containers.

The containers are actually straw dispensers like you would find at an old fashioned soda fountain.  Fortunately the straw dispensers are also the perfect height to hold standard pencils.   I created three of the pencil holders (my son, who teaches high school, told me that if his students do not know by the time they are in high school to bring pencils, then they are out of luck in his classroom!), one for John and one each for Bethany and Crissie.  John's design is very different from the girls, but that will be fine with him.

I used three Cricut cartridges to cut the vinyl for my dispenser:  Recess - for the pencils, Artiste - for the Teacher's Pencils font, and Anna Griffin's Monograms for the monogram centers in the apples.  The apples themselves are from my SVG library.

Below is a close up of the front of Crissie's pencil dispenser, including her NEW married monogram.  The colors are a bit dark in the photo.  The leaf and the initials are actually a dark green vinyl.

I mentioned above that John's dispenser is of a different design.  John is a huge soccer fan, especially Arsenal.  I added an SVG soccer player to John's dispenser and even dressed the little guy in Arsenal colors!  Instead of monogramming, John's dispenser reads, "Mr. Ross's Pencils".

I am really pleased with my back to school projects for the BBTB2 challenge.  My Design Team sisters came up with equally fun and creative projects to share, so be sure to go by the Bitten By the Bug 2 blog and check out their great projects.  While you are there, check the sidebar for the rules, then join us in this fun theme challenge!!!

I know there are cheaper and lighter weight straw dispensers out there, but THIS IS A LINK to the dispensers I purchased at Amazon..

Today is the final day to order many of the retiring Close To My Heart products.  That is the bad news.  The good news is the new annual inspiration catalog starts tomorrow, as well as the seasonal mini book.   Check out my previous post (HERE) for details on the retiring items.

Celebrating Friendship with Artistry

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 project.  This week's Cricut Challenge Theme comes to you from my sweet Design Team sister, Caroline.  Caroline has challenged not only the Design Team, but all of our reader too, to use your Cricut and create a project CELEBRATING FRIENDSHIP!

Like most of you, I have some wonderful friends in my life.  This challenge was a labor of love as I thought of my friends while crafting.  I used only one cartridge to create this card, the New Close To My Heart Artistry cartridge.  I know I say it regularly, but I love this cartridge.  There are such a variety of cuts - seasons, holidays, banners, events, birthdays, weddings, nature, etc.  It is such a great cartridge!!

The cuts I used include the Best Pals label, the teapot and tea cups, two types of flowers, an oval background, and a border.   The Best Pals label cut so nicely, even tiny.  My card is 5 x 5 inches, so the label is indeed very small.  But look how cleanly it cut with my Explore!  The flowers below are all under 1 inch, but look how nicely the petals cut.

You know that the design team LOVES IT when our readers join the weekly challenges.  All you have to do is craft a new project using this week's challenge, post to your blog and link back under the original challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2.  If you do not have a blog you can still join us!!!  Post your project in an online forum - something like the gallery at Scrapbook.com.  And link back to your project there.

There are TWO versions of the Artistry cartridge available.  That's right - two versions!!!

The Traditional Cartridge, stamps, and paper set retail for $99!

There is also a Digital Version of the cartridge.  The digital version retails for $79.

The digital version includes the stamps and paper.   You order through my on-line store just like with the traditional cartridge set, and along with your stamps and paper you will receive an activation code for the digital cartridge.

I understand that some customers are having a difficult time deciding which cartridge to purchase.  If you like to take your Cricut and cartridges with you to places that do not have wi-fi, you will want to purchase the traditional cartridge set.  If you only use your Cricut Explore with a your wi-fi connection, then you can purchase either version of the cartridge.  I purchased the traditional version because I occasionally take my E2 on the road with me.

Some customers who did not like one or two of the previous cartridges fear that they will not like this one also.  Please go to THIS POST and look over the handbook.  This cartridge truly is exceptional!  It is better even than Art Philosophy!!

If you have any questions about the cartridge or any of the other new products, please ask so that I can address your concerns!!

Roll Up Organizers are a MUST for Croppers

Hello everyone!  Today I want to remind you about our CTMH monthly special - the Roll Up Organizers Deals!  These great organizers are rated in my top five new CTMH products.  I love the smart space saving design and quick storage.

I have struggled for quite some time with marker travel storage issues.  I could never find the right case to hold my markers for travel to crops.  This great Marker Roll Up Organizer ($17.95) has solved that problem for me.  The roll up holds 25 markers (and yes, your Copics fit as well) and rolls up jelly roll style into a tight bundle for travel.  How brilliant is that?  I have two of these - one for my CTMH marker set and one that has 25 of my top used Copic markers.

I also really like the Accessory Roll Up Organizer ($18.95).  I used to have what I called a "box of bling".  It was a metal box about 9 x 6 inches which held all of my scrapping bling.  I would have to dig through the box to find what I wanted whenever I used bling on a project.  With this great Roll Up, there is no searching and digging for the right color or style of bling.  I simply unroll the Roll Up and check out the bling selection in a quick glance.  This is so much more convenient than the box of bling!!!

And best of all, with the little zippered pockets, it does not have to be only bling that you store in your Roll Up Accessory Organizer.  You could store charms, fibers, pop dots, etc. in your organizer for quick and easy storage and travel.

I have been asked that the organizers look like when they are full of project,  As you can see above, they roll into nice sized travel bundles.

For the month of August ONLY, you will receive this great stamp set (above) when you order the Marker Roll Up Organizer.  There is also a free-bee with the Accessory Roll Up Organizer in August - two sheets of base and bling.

While you are shopping, remember to take advantage of the FABULOUS Stamp of the Month set.  The stamp set retails for $17.95, but with a $50 order it can be added to the cart during check out for only $5.00.  Not only does this great set include nine sentiments for your cards and pages, it also includes three frames which coordinate with the new Artistry cartridge (another item on my TOP FIVE MUST HAVE LIST)!!

Do not miss out on these great - AUGUST ONLY - deals.

Welcome Pineapple Card

Hey there, friends!  Here in Aiken today is the first day of school for students.  That means it is the first day with students for teachers.... AND that means it is my first full week of full days with Avaleigh.  She has grown so much over the summer and is much more busy than she was last spring!  But Mom and I are enjoying having her here with us.

It is Monday and time for this week's Bitten By the Bug 2 challenge.  Our sweet Design Team sister, Brenda, challenged us to create a project using the FRUITS OF SUMMER.  I am very well acquainted with the fruits of summer.  I began a clean eating program on July 1st where I cut out all grain flour and sweeteners.  I have since added back a bit of honey and agave nectar, but nothing with any hidden sugars or sugar as an ingredient.  I can have all of the protein, veggies, and FRUITS of summer that would like.  I think my favorite fruits this summer have been nectarines, berries, watermelon, and pineapple.   Not only am I feeling better, but I have also lost 20 pounds through this dietary adjustment.

So on to today's card.  My fruits of summer card features a Pineapple.  In addition to being a fruit of summer, the pineapple is also a symbol of Welcome.  The house five doors down from us has new owners as of last week so I thought I would drop by with a "Welcome to the neighborhood" card and baked item.

I used two cartridges to create this card - Primarily CTMH Artistry.  All of the elements on the card, except the word Welcome were cut from Artistry.  Welcome is from the Birthday Cakes cartridge.

The paper used on this card is the new CTMH Zoe Paper Pack (available NOW at my on-line store). I added a bit of ink highlights to the tips of the pineapple leaves and the welcome banner.  I sure hope that my neighbors like this card.  I know Doug will like whatever I bake for them as he is missing baked goods with my cutting flour.

I mentioned above that the Zoe Paper Pack is available at my on-line store.  The Artistry cartridge is also available.  And just so you know, the full Close To My Heart new catalog will be available on September first.

Mr. & Mrs. Wedding Card

Hello friends, I am back to share a simple wedding card with you.  Like all of my other recent projects, this card was created using the new CTMH Artistry cartridge.  I have stated repeatedly that this cartridge has something for every occasion!  I truly mean that!

I confess what first brought the Mr. & Mrs. cuts to my attention was the new Close To My Heart catalog.  For there on page 15 is a small photograph of a double page layout featuring the Mr. & Mrs. cuts - AND - photos from my daughter's wedding!!  Well I knew right then that I would be using the Mr. & Mrs. cuts on a project.

To me what makes this card special, other than all  of the cute Cricut cuts, is the simplicity.  I used on four colors of card stock - white, gray, black, and champagne.  The four colors together create simple visual impact.

Have you purchased you copy of the Artistry cartridge yet?  I would love to help you make up your mind and would encourage you to order you Artistry cartridge through my on-line store!

Let's talk about the Artistry Cartridge for a few minutes.  First, there are TWO versions of the Artistry cartridge available.  That's right - two versions!!!

Happy Birthday Cake Card

Hey there everyone!  Today is Monday and that means it is time for another Bitten By The Bug 2 fun Cricut Challenge.  Our very talented Melanie Brown selected this week's challenge cut - she challenged us to use a BIRTHDAY CAKE on our project.

Remember when I told you that the new Close To My Heart Artistry cartridge has cuts for almost EVERYTHING?  Yes, there IS a birthday cake on the cartridge - and a candle too!!  In fact, this entire card, except the curved Happy Birthday cut, was cut using the new Artistry cartridge!  Pretty cool, huh?

I cut one of Artistry's round banners to use as a background on my card.  I cut the birthday cake and cake platter for the middle area of the card.  For the foreground I cut the curved banner and added the phrase Happy Birthday (from the Create A Critter cartridge).  I finished the card with white gel pen "stitches" around the background banner and gems on the birthday cake and candles.

The Bitten By The Bug 2 design team did an amazing job on this week's Cricut Birthday Cake Challenge.  I hope that you take few minutes and go by and check out their amazing projects.  These women are so talented!!

You may have noticed that my last several projects have all been created using the Artistry cartridge.  I think it is time a bloggy chat:

Artistry Sea Card

Hello friends!  I have had a couple of busy days, but I am hoping to get back into my scraproom and spend some more creative time with my Artistry cartridge!!  I am truly loving this cartridge.  Today's Artistry card is only my third Artistry project.  I liked this little octopus so much and I wanted to use him on a card, but I had no idea what type of sentiment to add.  Then I spied this "Warm hugs" cut on Artistry!  The octopus has plenty of legs to offer hugs!!

Once again I used some of the Zoe Paper Pack, plus light blue and green papers.  I really like how the flora cut on the lower front left of the card ended up looking like sea coral.

In addition to adding sequin air bubbles to the card, I also added scholarly glasses to the Octopus.  I finished the card with boarder stitching via my sewing machine. Over all, I thought the card was cute.
