Cricut Baby Shoes

Hey there!  Today I have a fun CRICUT cut project to share with you today.  Baby Shoes!  Seriously, baby shoes cut with the Cricut Explore!  How fun is that?  I found the baby shoes while scrolling down the Cricut Design Space home page and I knew I had to try to make them for our sweet Avaleigh.

After importing the file, I cut the file in white felted wool with the Explore set on Fabric Plus.

I began by sewing the back of the shoe upper closed.  Then I marked the middle front and middle back of the upper shoe and sole, and basted them together.  I then measured and basted the sides.

Next I used three strands of embroidery floss and stitched the sole to the upper.   I used white thread to stitch a "tuck" into the shoe top to make the strap.  Finally I added the button and flower embellishment.

I forgot to mention that when I imported the cut file I adjusted the file to make the parts a bit smaller. I thought the original shoes were a bit too large for Avaleigh.

Tuesday night was family dinner night and I tried Avaleigh's shoes and her - and they fit perfect!  From now on I will only make larger size shoes.  Oh, and .... I ordered a variety pack of assorted colored felt from Amazon.  I am ready to make shoes for all of her outfits.

And speaking of my darling Avaleigh, guess who turned on month old early this week???  Yep, this pretty baby!!

Tea Time with Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth

Hello everyone.  It is Monday and time for this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 Cricut Challenge. My Design Team member, Diana, selected this week's Cricut Cut Challenge and she asked the team to use a Cricut Cut CLOCK.  There are many clocks in the Cricut cartridge library from which to choose.  I selected Cogsworth, the Grandfather clock/Butler from Beauty and The Beast.

The Cogsworth character is found on Disney Princesses cartridge.  I thought Cogsworth was perfect for meeting the spirit of the challenge!

Also on the Disney Princesses cartridge are Mrs. Potts and her son, Chip.  I thought they would be perfect companions to Cogsworth, and together these characters inspired the theme of my card.

I used four cartridges to complete this card.  In addition to the Disney characters on the Disney Princesses cartridge, I also used Anna Griffin's Splendid Soiree cartridge for the base card and lace overlay, Creative Memories Divine Weddings for the double layer label shape, and the Birthday Cake Banner Font for the Tea Time banner.

I used baker's twine to hang the banner and assorted pink buttons between the letters and words.

Originally I had intended to reproduce this card as invitations to a Palm Sunday tea party, but I decided that Mrs. Potts and Chip took too long to assemble for me to want to reproduce them twelve more times!  I will go with something far easier for my invitations!

I hope you find some time this week to join our Clock challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2.  After you complete your Cricut cut CLOCK project and post to your blog, link up with us at BBTB2 for a chance to be our Project of the Week.  Be sure to check the sidebar at BBTB2 for all of the challenge rules.

First Dance Peony Layout

(Click any photo see enlarge)

Hello friends!  I apologize for being MIA this week.  I have had a few in-home projects going on and I simply did not take time to edit photos and write blog posts.

I went to my friends Sally & Beth's family lake house last weekend, hence my exhausted post on Monday.  I managed to create not only my BBTB2 card, but also 12 layout pages (plus two unfinished pages).  While I did not get as much accomplished as usual, we did take time to attend a Stamp Art show in Columbia.  There were many stamp vendors there, but I found myself once again spending a good deal of time at the Darcie's booth.  I also enjoyed one other booth, who's name escapes me right now.  I will look up the name for when I actually use the products!

Today I am going to share a two page layout from last week's scrapping.

I really like this first dance layout of Bethany and John at their wedding.  They were (are!) so happy and it truly shows in the photos!

I found four inch wide burlap "ribbon" at my local craft store.  The guest tables at the wedding had white tablecloths and burlap runners with lace down the center.  I thought the burlap ribbon would be fun to use on the layouts, but it was too wide.  I cut the burlap ribbon in half lengthwise, fringed the cut edge, and affixed the burlap to the scrapbook page as an embellishment.

The embellishment cuts on these two pages were created using the Silhouette Cameo, because the flowers were from the Silhouette America Store.  The flowers are two layer (plus a leaf) Peonies.  I love Peonies and I really liked the way these flowers cut.

The other Silhouette cut on these pages is the title, J&B 1st Dance.  I ran out of space for the word dance, so I confess that the 90 degree turn placement of the word Dance was so that it would fit on the page!  Sometimes a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do!

As I said above, I do have additional scrapbook pages to share with you, including Avaleigh's tutu layout pages!!  I will get to those soon.

In the meantime, do not forget that there are only eight days left to take advantage of the Close To My Heart buy one/get one 50% off Album Special!

Apron Shaped Card

Hello friends.  Welcome to this week's Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge.  My sweet and talented Design Team sister, Caroline, selected the theme for this week's Cricut Challenge.  Caroline asked the team to think outside the box and to create "shaped" cards.

I created this sweet Apron Card for the challenge.  I used two Cricut cards for this challenge, Country Life and George and Basic Shapes, as well as SVG files.

There are lots of fun details on this card which I like very much:  the lacy skirt, the Life is Sweet stamp, and the Life is Sweet stamped image.

Please forgive my lack of details on this card.  I am afraid that I am extremely tired tonight as I attempt to tell you about the card.  I was away for the weekend and did not rest well.  I have actually dozed off repeatedly as I have attempted this post.

Please do go by BBTB 2 and view the design team's projects.

Postal Box Valentine

Hello friends!  Most of you know that my mother moved in with us last summer.  One of the more fun aspects of "life with mom" is that she likes enjoys my paper crafting and even allows me to create projects for her to give.  This is the Valentine card I made for my mom to mail to my nephew.  We wanted a Valentine card, but nothing too cutesy or too juvenile.  I found this box card in a new SVGcuts.com Valentine set and we agreed that it is perfect.

I have been using my Cricut Explore recently to cut SVGs, mostly because my Silhouette had a bit of amnesia and forgot that I had the Designer edition of the software and therefore could import SVG files.  I finally took a day and a half (seriously feeling dumb for not figuring out the problem sooner), found the problem with my software and corrected the problem.  What I LOVE about using SVGs with my Silhouette is that I do not have to reside anything.  With the Cricut Explore, I have to correct the sizes of the SVGs when I import the images.  It is sometimes quicker to use the Silhouette.  Now, having said that, I do like that once I have the file set up in the Cricut software I can cut and load page after page without much thought or effort. But for this card, I used the Silhouette.

While I wanted for this card to look like a traditional Valentine card, I also wanted a to use some fun and boy-ish papers too.  I used Close To My Heart's Chalk It Up card stock on the sides of the mailbox.  Otherwise I used scraps from my stash (hence forth to be known as my Creative Resource Supplies).

I found that this is the first box card that I have made which did not lay completely flat.  I think I made a placement error when inserting the middle sections.

My mom was very happy with this Valentine for her youngest Grandson.  We mailed it today with a little gift from Granny inside the package.

Charming Valentine's Day Card

Hello friends.  Welcome to this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge post - The Charming Challenge.  My good friend and Design Team sister, Brenda, selected this week's challenge cut.  Brenda has asked the design team, and you, to make a project using a Cricut Cut Charm Feature.  There are a number of cartridges that have charm features so there are lots of charms to choose.

I found my charm - the silver E handing from the word love - on the Jasmine cartridge.  I know it is odd to have an E charm on a Valentine, but this card is for my husband and as our last name begins with an E, I thought this might work.

Amazingly, I used six Cricut Cartidges to create this card.  The inside of the card, and the scallop edged card were cut using Artfully Sent.  The swirl front section of the card is from Valentine's Day.  The scalloped heart in the middle of the front is from Victorian Romance. The word love is from Phrases, the Key is from Sentimentals, and as I mentioned above, the E is from Jasmine.

I am very pleased with the inside of this card.  The pop up heart look so pretty in person. And I love the white scallop edge of the card peeking out from behind the pink inside.

As I assembled my card, I used an Anna Griffin lace embossing folder on the pink front of the card.  I thought a bit of texture looked nice in the background.

I hope that you will head over to the Bitten By The Bug 2 blog and take a look at the Charming projects the Design Team created.  We would love it if you could join us in this week's challenge - use a Cricut Cut Charm on your project and then share with us at the BBTB2 blog!
