Wedding Week has Arrived!

Hello everyone!  I am so happy to announce that the week of Bethany's wedding has finally arrived!!!  She and John will be married this Saturday at six-thirty pm.  I am so happy that we have just a few details to complete and should be ready without too much fuss by the end of the week.

Because I spent the week working on wedding projects, schedules, table tents, etc, I did not complete my Bitten By the Bug 2 for this week.  However, my BBTB2 Design Team did a fabulous job of toasting the 4th of July with their wonderful layouts, cards, and projects.  Please do go by BBTB2 and check out the team's work.

I am sharing a few engagement photos with you today but next week I will share many, many wedding photos (well, as soon as they are accessible from the photographer).

I want to do a very special shout out today for MFB - My Friend Beth - who is celebrating a special birthday today.  Happy birthday sweet, Beth!!!  I hope you continue to celebrate all week long!!!

I wish you all a wonderful week and a happy fourth of July.

Heat Wave Summer Fun

Hello friends.  It is certainly hot here in the Southeast so my friend Melanie, who is hosting this week at Bitten by the Bug 2, selected a perfect Cricut challenge - Summer Fun.   I am ready for some summer fun!  I would love to be sitting by a pool, wearing my favorite sunglasses, and sipping a wonderfully cold drink!  But instead, I am on the less than two week countdown for Bethany's wedding, and helping my mom get settled.  But before we get into all of that, let's talk paper crafting!!

I used two cartridges and a Sizzix platform die to make my card.  I used the Sizzix Movers & Shapers XL Base Die-Card, Fancy Label Stand-Ups for the base card.  I then used assorted Cricut cuts from the Life's a Beach and Forever Young cartridges to create the other elements on the card.

I have a confession.  It was really nice to take another look at the Forever Young cartridge.  Just like with Paper Dolls Teen Scene from a previous BBTB2 challenge, I had not used the cartridge in quite a while.  It was nice to be reminded of what it was I liked I about the cartridge when I used it more frequently.  I think after the wedding I am going to make a point of using a wider variety of cartridges on my projects.

Now, about my mom.  Most of you know my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease a little over a year ago.  Sadly, I had been aware for at least 18 months prior to the diagnoses that she was having memory issues.  Recently we reached the point where we thought it would be wise for mom to sell her home and no longer live alone.  While she is not ready for full-time assisted living, neither did she need to be alone.

After much drama involving my brother, my mom moved into our home last weekend.  This is going to be a challenging adventure, one I hope to make with love and patience.  I also hope that after Bethany's wedding is over that we might be able to settle into a quite routine.

Now the wedding - is 12 days away!!  I have our final meeting with the caterer this week, as well as finish some projects I am making for the wedding.  Hopefully all of the projects will be finished by this weekend so that when we reach the actual wedding week, life will be less stressful.  I know, wishful thinking right?

Please do go by BBTB2 and check out the FABULOUS summer fun projects the design team created.  I confess that I almost did not post my card because it looked so sad next the team's projects.  They are an awesome group of crafters!!

Graduation Photos Card

Hello friends.  Graduation has come and gone in South Carolina, but I find I am just now getting the graduation cards made - which means, YES, our checks are late going in the mail!  Our favorite graduate this year is my (technically Doug's) nephew, Jayme.  Jayme graduated last month in Cleveland, TN.  Luck for me, and ultimately Jayme, my Design team sister Mayra selected this week's Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge - and she chose a GRADUATION THEME.

I used four cartridges to make this card, Paper Doll Teen Scene,  Happy Graduation, Heritage, and Art Philosophy.  My graduates were cut using the girl and boy graduates on the Paper Doll Teen Scene cartridge.  I love the funky shape of the people on this cartridge!  The sofa and camera were cut using the Heritage cartridge.  The Happy Graduation phrase was cut with the Happy Graduation cartridge, and the label layers were cut using Art Philosophy.

I found the background papers in my scrap stash, but I thought both prints were great for this graduation photography scene.

This week I am hosting a "Girlfriend Save Me" night.  I COMPLETELY forgot to assemble the wedding favors so I put out a call for help and have a few people coming to help me on Tuesday.  I will also be getting back with the wedding caterer with final number, calling the florist for flowers for the Bridal Breakfast, and finalizing other details.  We are down to less than three weeks to go on Bethany's wedding.  Other than dropping the ball on the favor assembly (though all elements were ordered, printed, cut, etc), I think I have most of the other juggling balls in the air.   Oh... and Saturday Doug and I are going to North Carolina to pick up my mom.  We are going to worry about moving her furniture after the wedding.

Please remember to go by Bitten By The Bug 2 and to visit my DT sisters' blogs.  There is so much creative goodness in this Design Team and they have so much to teach and share!!!  Also, remember we do so enjoy it when you  join us in the weekly BBTB2 challenge!!

Father's Day for My Guy

Hello everyone!  I know I have become a blog slacker lately, but truly there is just so much going on in my life right now that I am having trouble making time for the scrap room.  To be honest, when I MADE time to make today's Bitten By the Bug 2 card, I wanted to stay and keep scrapping.  As soon as Bethany's wedding is over and my mom is all settled in, I plan to enjoy my scrap room once again!  The good news is, we are on the final countdown to the wedding - less than a month to go.

I used only one cartridge to make today's card - so unlike me - Father's Day.  I own a digital version of this cartridge and that is only a problem when I have no Internet connection.  But most of the time I craft at home so I do not need to worry about Internet as our Wifi is fine.  However, I cannot use digital cartridges at the lake or other crop sites without Internet.

The Father's Day card is a small cartridge which includes Father's Day and other Man Card double layer cuts.  And at $14.99, the digital cartridge is very affordable.

My honey has had a lot of "honey do" projects lately, so I thought this might be a nice card design for him.  Inside I have a stamped Father's Day sentiment (which I forgot to photograph) and plenty of space to tell Doug how wonderful he is as a father and as a husband!

I hope that you take time to link up with us this week at Bitten By the Bug 2 and share your Cricut cut Father's Day projects.
