International Olympic Party

Hello Everyone!  After sharing my fun Olympic banner with you over the weekend, today we are going to talk about hosting an Olympic gathering for your friends.  The first things you MUST DO, is check the Olympic broadcast schedule and determine which events you want to watch during your party, or plan a closing ceremonies party.  The daily schedule for live events can be found HERE - select a date and the schedule for that will load.   After selecting a date and time, you are ready to get down to detailed planning!

I started with these great invitations, which I have titled - LONDON CALLING!  The adorable UK telephone booth is a Silhouette Cameo cut file.  I did a bit of editing on the cut file, removing the word telephone and adding a rectangle of stamped white cardstock - You're Invited!  The details of the party were printed inside the card on white cardstock.  How easy is that?

The base card was created with black cardstock.  I designed the card to fit in a legal envelope for mailing.  Behind the window cutouts is a piece of white vellum, which is a bit lost in the photo, but looks nice in real life.

The next thing you need to do is plan a menu.  Your gathering can be as simple as dips and chips with beverages, or a full-on International feast.  I chose to go with finger foods with a bit of International flair- but nothing to extravagant.

Again using a Silhouette Cameo cut file, I made Union Jack 3.5 x 5 inch cards and added recipe title banners across the middle of the cards!!  Super easy, but this will add a bit of color to my buffet table.

Oops - I am missing a card or two:  All-American Sliders, Swiss (& Others) Cheese Platter, etc.

Now, remember all of those Independence Day (Canada Day, Queen's Jubilee, etc.) decorations you  have stashed away?  Get them back out!!!  Get out your red, white and blue napkins, and cups and you have just organized some simple party decorations!!!

Grab some hand held flags for your guests and you are ready to host a fun evening of Olympic fun with your friends!!!  Because really, you will not see the summer Olympics again for four years, so you really should celebrate the occasion!!!
